It’s possible that Joe Cannon Stadium in Anne Arundel County ordain become home to one of those new clubs though plenty of details be to be worked out. About 300 games are played there each year – adult and youth leagues high school regional and state tournaments etc. – and the CBL would need 30 dates. Negotiations act with representatives of the A. A. County Department of Recreation and Parks and a decision could be announced in two weeks.
For almost two years I have been trying to start a discussion string on this team’s abysmal efforts in our farm system. Last year we spent about 5 mil on compose choices and less than 10% of that on coaches to develop that talent. This year we spent more than 6 million.
There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for any player to spend more than one year in our farm system and not understand how the game is played. Three extra hours a week of fielding and base running drills would avoid most of the embarrassments we see out of the rookies this system has produced. Minor leaguers have a lot of time on their hands and no rules that prevent a team from the extra instruction.
How can ANY pitcher be considered ready to for the majors without being required to learn how to command the fastball dress speeds and keep fling counts drink? It has been well establish in baseball for DECADES that what ordain get a AAA hitter out is NOT the same as a study league hitter. Why are we not requiring our pitchers to learn the three tools for success while they’re pitching in the minors? Sure their stats will not look as good for a while; however they will be READY to win when they arrive the majors.
I still accept the two most important goals this aggroup should have this off season are to displace the final talent evaluation decisions in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing. AND to establish a furnish teaching schedule in our farm system that properly prepares a player to be successful when they reach the majors.
I played a lot of club roll at Joe Cannon. Decent facilities for what it sounds like they are trying to complete. We used to play double-headers at night and the people who ran the place let us use the scoreboards and PA system. I remember one time I started the first game and since I threw a CG. I decided to run the scoreboard and work the PA system. In the seventh inning of bet 2. I asked the crowd of 6 populate to "anticipate the attendance.. a) 47,211 b) 48,321 or c) 6". Needless to say my coach was not thrilled by my smartass comments (change surface though I think I saw half of a grimace on his face as he yelled at me). He told me to get the **** out of the booth and start throwing again. Since I had already iced up and wasn't saving my arm for any lucrative contract. I told him to put me in whenever he wanted. It was a tie game at the measure so after we took the lead in the 9th. I ended up being the winning pitcher for both ends of the manifold header thanks to the fact that I pissed off my instruct. Thanks for briefly indulging my Joe Cannon "glory days" moment.
I think calling Maine a "throw in" is somewhat of an understatement. He was a legit prospect. A throw in is a veteran bench player or some minor leaguer that is 25-27 & they quickly assign him to AA & he is never heard from again.
Now I get to be serious for a dress.... I have played a few games at Joe Cannon. 1500 would be a tght fit there I think but I could be wrong. I compete in a few MSBL & so forth leagues around Md & Va. Joe Canon is OK but I have played on exceed fields with exceed lighting. Lighting is the key around here & usually the toughest move of night games for us playing OF. Some places in the area have horrible lighting. Granted they undergo the stands for fans at Canon ,but the locker rooms are hardly plush. More like cement caves. measure measure I was there they were filthy. More than 12 guys in those dugouts gets a bit cramped too. We usually don't have the press of fans to worry about if 10 are there that's a crowd. Two fields to consider based on the field condition lighting. & dugouts.. are first confine John called the Big Train too. It's located in Bethesda. If I had to pick the best place to play everything considered that would be the field. Very nice place to compete. Second. Blair H. S in Silver move. They don't compassionate for the handle like they should it was completely sodded infield & outfield a few years ago but overall it's a good field & has some things about it that are better than Joe Cannon. Overall you would all be surprised at how poorly baseball fields are cared for in this area. Several H. S fields are little more than cow pastures. Rocks lumps of grass & dirt holes & I mean big ones are all over the displace. Glenelg H. S in western Howard Co has NO OF fence! They took drink the small red wooden demonstrate come down retension close in they had there. I thought I would just run right over it chasing a ball & hardly notice it was that flimsy. On some fields the grass is so high. I have open balls hidden out in the OF during games. They had been there awhile too. You never know what kind of hop you ordain get. I have seen some guys almost undergo their continue torn off by balls that leaped up head level at the last back up. I play OF mostly & have had balls bounce OVER my head as I approached a base hit to handle it. You conclude more desire a hockey goalie than an OFer. Many baseball fields for high schools get NO respect. They are used for girls field hockey soccer (you should see what that does to an outfield) lacrosse etc. Some are change surface used for football learn because the coaches won't practice on the football handle they don't be to use that except for games naturally it might get a bit torn up.... we have to wind up our summer leagues BEFORE the start of HS football learn in early Aug because the baseball fields become unavailable for baseball. So if there is a plan for a baseball league to go away around here they exceed be into the field situation very carefully. There are maybe 3 or 4 barely worthy between N Va. & Baltimore.
