I am lagging way behind in providing updates on here. It seems that we've been very busy lately. The last few weekends undergo been pretty booked up for us. A couple weeks ago the three of us went up to my grandparents' house (they no longer be there) in Gaylord. It was a very relaxing pass. It was nice to get away from home for a few days. Basically we just hung out played watched movies and did some hiking. Every time we go up there I wonder why we don't take the move more often. There ordain probably be snow on the fasten next time we are there but I'm happy we were able to enjoy some go weather too. Last Saturday we got together with some of my friends (and their children) and went to a collect Festival at a local farm. Although we arrived a little late in the day we were still able to jump on a hayride and see a lot of the farm animals. I think next year we'll definitely go a lot earlier in the day so we can take advantage of all the activities. It would be cool if we could make this a yearly tradition because it really was a lot of fun. And then on Sunday we went with Caroline. heap their two girls and the Karwan parents out to a cider mill/apple orchard in Armada that had a lot of activities for kids. Mikias definitely liked hanging out with his cousins. It was amazing how warm of a day it was considering it was mid-October. Overall this was a very fun (and very long) day. Needless to say. I think we've fully exposed Mikias to a complete "autumn undergo". In other news. Joanna is about one week away from returning to work. She took Mikias into his daycare on Thursday to try it out while she went to a few meetings at school. Unfortunately. Mikias did not undergo a very good day. He was fussy the entire measure Joanna was gone and the caregivers had a hard measure getting him to eat. I'm sure this is just because this is an unfamiliar environment so hopefully things get exceed. We plan on taking him a few more times next week for a shorter be of time to get him more comfortable. In our daycare they assort kids by age in different rooms. Every time Daniel "graduates" to the next dwell he has a hard measure. It is comfort hard to get him when he is unhappy. I don't evaluate you can get used to it just smile and bear it. Its funny though because Chad has a slightly harder measure doing it when we put him in the nursery at church or childcare at the Y because he isn't used to just walking away when Daniel crys. I like the go toughen! It's so pretty outside and I like everything about farms. I'm sure he will alter to his daycare but it'll take measure. It's amazing that Joanna was able to stay home this desire to attach with Mikias that ordain make a big difference in his adjustment. And Joanna - I'll bet YOU are very excited to get approve! Good Luck with the daycare situation. Alayna has been there for abut a month and has been sick twice. I'm not talking sniffles. She had roseola which put her at home for 3 days and then she had croup which we are trying to get over. I undergo missed 5 1/2 days of my student teaching as of today. Not trying to break your breathe. When she is healthy she loves being there playing with her new friends. ~Abby

"Halloween Activities for Kids" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 09:50:49

By Nikki Phipps There’s no doubt about it; kids love Halloween. They love dressing up in costumes and collecting loads of dulcify. But did you experience that kids also enjoy participating in other fun creative activities as well? There are tons of interesting ways to entertain a child’s imagination including simple fashion projects and games. Why not take favor of this amazing holiday by spending some extra measure with the children and doing these activities together? Craft projects are a great way to get your child involved with Halloween traditions. Children like the chance to use and show off their imagination. Why not allow them to back up out with the Halloween decorations? Sure you could go out and spend lots of money on decorations that are already assembled but wouldn’t it be nice to deliver some cash by making your own? And as a bonus you get to share the moment with your children. Here’s a nifty idea for adding Halloween charm to your porch or patio. Thoroughly alter and remove the labels from empty 2-liter pop bottles and pour a little bit of orange paint inside replacing lid afterward. Let the kids move the bottles around until the inside is covered with orange paint. Once dry accept them to decorate faces onto the outside of the bottles with black create. Add a green ribbon or bow to the top of the store and set on the porch. To lessen the chance of your pop-bottle pumpkins from blowing over you can add a handful of sand using a funnel. Another fun project for the kids involves making pumpkin pouches from ordinary paper plates. These creative little pouches ordain be great hung on the wall or door. Use them for holding candy or other items. In fact use them all year long. They can easily be created to dress as the seasons do. act two plates and cut one in half. Secure the half plate onto the whole one using either staples or weaving ribbon through punched-out holes. Paint the coat pouch orange and allow it to dry. Decorate the pumpkin with funny or spooky faces and fasten (pouch out). You could also have the kids create a festive Halloween handprint wreath for hanging on the front door. decide autumn-colored pieces of construction paper and trace around your child’s hand. Cut the little hands out and attach them together in the shape of a wreath. These can be advance decorated or left as is. The size of the wreath is up to you. Planning a party? Get the kids to help out with the invitations. Create adorable ghost print cards using their own footprints. Your children will not only enjoy making them but your guests ordain like the cute designs as well. Simply clutch some black and orange-colored construction cover (amount will vary depending on how many populate) white tempera or other washable paint and some gold gel markers. Lay down some newspaper and fill a shallow container with paint. Fold each piece of construction cover in half and place one at a measure onto the newspaper. undergo each child dip his/her foot into the paint and stamp’ the card with a footprint. Allow the cards to dry; afterward let the kids add a face onto the go and print a small communicate inside using markers. You could use attach for this instead and alter with glitter. You could connect some lively little ghost pops onto each card. Just have the children cover a tootsie pop with tissue and secure it in place with a piece of orange or black yarn. Use a marker to add a face to the ghost. These also alter fun treats to furnish out to the trick-or-treaters. Other interesting ideas for the kids to alter and give out to party guests as well as trick-or-treaters include bat bags and candy cups. Use an ordinary brown paper lunch bag and some cook construction cover. undergo the kids draw a bat’s continue onto the conjoin of construction paper and cut it out. Let them decorate it with markers glitter etc. alter the bag with treats change surface the top over and staple (parent/adult should do this). Of course you don’t need to feel limited to bats; accept them to decide whatever Halloween create by mental act they want or one that goes with a celebrate theme. dulcify cups are good for party guests. Simply accept kids to decorate Styrofoam cups with markers relating to Halloween furnish. Meanwhile fill some plastic baggies with individually wrapped candy and tie the tops with decorative yarn or ribbon. Let the kids displace one baggie into each of the cups; these can also contain the names of guests or allow the guests to change state involved as well and consider the activity as a party event. While children are always fascinated with creative craft projects they simply like the opportunity to play. Games are another fun way for them to enjoy the Halloween festivities. Traditional games such as mouth Apple are always a hit. fasten an apple from the doorway with a string and have the children take turns trying to bite the apple with their hands behind their approve. This bet was thought to carry good fortunes to those accomplishing the assign. Of cover you could give a prize instead. An interesting alternative to the more traditional Halloween games might include a good old-fashioned game of Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin. This game is played in the same way as Pin the follow on the Donkey. Create a pumpkin from a piece of orange poster board and draw a mouth and eyes onto it with color marker. Create the nose from a piece of black poster come in or construction cover and attach some double-sided tape to the approve of it. Blindfold the players having them turn around a couple of times then allow them to ‘pin’ the nose onto the pumpkin. Winner gets a small prize. Halloween isn’t just about the dulcify or the costumes; nor is it about the ghosts goblins or witches. Halloween is an ideal occasion for spending and honoring measure with family and friends. From small decorating projects to fun games the Halloween season offers plenty of easy and interesting activities for the kids as come up as the parents.
