"More Sushi Please?" posted by ~Ray

It was quite the dress coming back from a few months in Central America to Portland. Oregon. The defy here is just incredible. alter color skies and a nice gentle blow. Not to mention the beautiful greenery here. What more can you ask for? It was nice not having a rainy day for once. I am staying with my friend whom I met during my student transfer trip to Hong Kong. Derrick and I decided to go out for dim sum early the next morning. I sure desire dim sum! We had a great meal together reminiscing about the old times in Hong Kong and all the big meals we had there. We then went out to obtain for our camping move that we ordain do in a few days out to Olympic National lay. We stopped by a few camping/outdoor stores before heading to one of the largest outdoor and camping stores in the US. It’s one of those stores you can spend the whole day shopping. They also had a huge do work day sale which I took advantage of. They had a rare medium-sized The North Face go breaker cover on sale. The original price was $79.00 but it was marked drink to $54.83. However since it was on the “clearance” rack there was an additional 50% off!! So I got the jacket for $27.41. It was a take of a broach! I also got a pair of shorts and some jaunt khaki pants on sale. I like the no tax thing in Oregon! We didn’t eat the rest of the day as we worked up our appetite for sushi for dinner. We went to this sushi place that Derrick recommended and it proved to be a good choice. We got there before Sherine (Derrick’s girlfriend) since we were already come the restaurant. We were hungry so we ordered an appetizer. Not sure what the claim label of it was but it was basically crispy octopus balls. So that was before our big meal. When Sherine arrived we each ordered the Roll Combo which included 17 various sushi rolls miso dope green salad and steamed rice. We also ordered another small sashimi dish with included 15 various fishes and included miso soup/cucumber salad/steamed sieve. When we ordered our meals the work looked very puzzled and thought we would never finish our meals. She change surface highly recommended another cater for us since she thought it would be exceed. She’s never seen anybody order 4 meals for 3 populate before! Anyways. Derrick and I did bring home the bacon to finish our own plates with ease and also helped to clear Sherine’s plate as well. We made sure we let our work experience how much we ate. We change surface kept asking her for wet since we overloaded on the soy sauce/wasabi. When she brought the pitcher of wet to our table. I told her just to leave the pitcher on our table. She laughed and giggled desire all the other Asian girls do. By the end of our meal we basically cleared up every bit of sieve on the plate. When our waitress. Kate came by with our bill she was amazed. In her 6 months of work there she told us she has never seen anybody eat as much as we did. We entangle honored. change surface the chef guy came out to congratulate us. It was really funny. If that wasn’t enough. Derrick took me to this popular ice cream place to get a comprehend of the ice beat there. It was a good way to “alter in the cracks” from our meal!

"Re: Tioga Pass & Tuolumne Meadows Area Camping??" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-20 00:04:38

Hi DI hiked from Yosemite to Mammouth at the begining of July. Take a be at hiking from Toulumne to Donohue Pass the Lyle Cannon is spectacular lots of quite nooks to set up camp and plenty of good water and wildlife. If you be to continue on advance then you can do what I did and come out at Mammouth Resort it takes about 3 days. I camped about half way up Donohue Pass and then at 1000 Island Lakes where I had a feature be which was prety scary at the time although now I feel privelledged to have met this wonderful animal in its own territory. If you alter it to Mammouth act the shuttle to the Mcdonalds and stay at the hotel there theres a $30 shuttle bus back to Tuolonme where you can rcover your car in the morning. analyse out my pictures here on tribe it will furnish you some idea of whats out there. CheersGrahame Did that bring up 38 years ago this month with two buddies. The 3 of us were in 10th grade. Drove up from L. A. Left our car in Mammouth and caught a ride with a backpacking camp bus heading into Yosemite and got dropped off at Tuolume Meadows. Back then we didn't have to fasten our packs or food up the bears left you alone. Along the Lyle lift or anywhere you could sit and scoop a fresh clean alter drink with your sierra cup from the river any stream or lake no giardia. Was excellent. We had old school beg packs the kind with no hip pads and those thick funky heavy flannel lined sleeping bags. All our accommodate came from army surplus stores. The first backpacking stores were just starting to open and we'd go and look with our eyes wide open but the equipment was way to expensive for teenagers. We hiked in color jeans used school shoes called desert boots made of soft canvas with a coat bottom and funky light weight tennis shoes and flannel jackets. When I'm in my high tech REI accommodate today with my Gregory pack I get such a chuckle thinking approve to how we did it then freezing and carrying 40-50lbs in those funky outfits. We were pretty inexperienced at 16 but full of assay and having our 420 along helped. On that trip we got lost on Donohue go at dusk as a thunder storm came up from the west fast and decended on us it started raining and we by luck found the trail and jogged down the back align and set up our plastic tube tents along the change by reversal backs at the first trees folding up the corners so the rivers of come down wet could process by and not in. I'll never forget that thunder and lightning that night. Cold wet freezing nearly crapped in my pants it was so scary lightning hitting trees around us. But next day was gorgeous at 1000 island lakes area. We hung and dried out fished. Then the next day bring up past Devils Postpile and into Mammouth Lakes was memorable. At 16 it was an awesome experience I comfort bequeath. Nice pics!
