"How to do a "Manual"" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-16 05:36:24

Manual simply put is a wheelie that you do not crank your pedals; you simply ride a wheelie from balance. Manuals are a great way to control your bike and your cruise speed. Parts of some courses require a manual to effectively navigate the track. I will give you a step by step guide to be able to master this necessity. Steps1. Get up to a reasonable speed. You want to go fast enough to provide momentum but not so fast that you can not control yourself. 2. When you are ready to manual get your pedals parallel to the ground. 3. Load the front wheel. 4. Pop the front wheel off the ground and shift your weight back on the bike in one motion. Your arms should be straight when you lean back. You are not holding the front wheel up with you arms. You are shifting your body weight to balance the front wheel in the air. Your center of gravity should be right over the rear axle. 5. See how long you can keep your balance. Tips1. Manuals are easiest to do on lightweight BMX bikes and hard-tail mountain bikes. 2. If your front wheel is not getting high enough try leaning further back. If your front wheel gets too high then lean less. Experiment with this and find out what works for you. 3. Keep a finger on the back brake while your font wheel is in the air. If your bike wants to drop you off the back you can grab the back brake and your front wheel will come down. 4. On your next mountain bike ride use the manual to float over root rocks small drops small animals or anything else on the trail that you do not want your front wheel hitting.

"Some Inspiration" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-08 02:40:50

This footage was shot on a private run in Northern California last pass. My friend Justin is riding in front of me and I undergo the helmet cam on. This is an example of how North border riding has blended with the downhill styles of the mainland. North Shore incorporates the elevated wooden tracks and the technical aspects of the course. This course is very abstain very tight and very dangerous. Just as a compose we were averaging around about 20 mph and only touching the brakes when we absolutely had to due to the course being too tight! I would not recommend this style of go to anyone below an expert due to the high level of risk associated with North border riding. To get started in such a feature I would recommend getting comfortable with the downhills of your local mountain such as Horsetooth Trail and the Horsetooth Lake Run. After you are comfortable with the speed and the handling get used to jumping your ride. Once you can alter some simple set ups such as a delay top and a manifold and triple you will be on your way to begin NS! Best of Luck!

Posted on 2007-11-12 01:23:45

I noticed during a mountain ride ride that the aspen trees come Copper Mountain have started to change colors with the season. This stand of aspens is located at nearly 10,000' in elevation. IMHO. September and October are the beat months to be and tour Colorado. The shorter days cause the aspens to dress the colors of their foliage creating of yellow gold and occasionally red highlighted by evergreens in the mountains. Down in Boulder daytime temperatures slowly fall with desire stretches of clear color skies little go or come down.

Colorado mountain bikers may find several of the express’s best trails off-limits if the Forest function pushes through with a new directive. The agency wants to limit or command bike find on the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) which includes the. Rabbit Ears go. Peaks Trail and many sections of the Colorado Trail. In all hundreds of miles of Colorado singletrack could be lost if mountain bikers don’t alter their voices heard. There is. IMBA has a that makes it easy for you to send your opinion to the plant Service. The deadline for comments is October 12th. I've been doing outdoor activities since I was a little kid. I hiked my first fourteener when I was 9 and finished all 54 (some populate say 53) in Colorado when I was 24. I finished the top 100 mountains in Colorado when I was 27. Cycling has taken over as my main outdoor activity. I attempted RAAM in 2006 and dropped out after 2,000 miles. I wish to go approve and end it sometime but there are a lot of other rides/races I'd like to do. There's just so many fun things to do and so little measure.

"Another Big Wedding Blog" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-19 23:55:29

I didn’t think I would undergo the measure or energy to create verbally about the wedding in Colorado today but I forgot that today is also the day that I go approve to drinking caffe after a week of acqua sporca or “dirty wet”. So…After going to Winnipeg for bring home the bacon I flew drink to Denver on Thursday morning to go to Kristen and Brian’s wedding. They were going boating on Thursday afternoon as a way to change state before the storm of wedding festivities (the wedding was on a Friday afternoon). I showed up at the marina for Lake Dillon straight from the airport hoping they hadn’t left yet if that were gone then I would go and analyse in at the hotel in Keystone. With my luck they were comfort loading up the pontoon boats so I joined in. I was a little lighten headed from the altitude but a few beers should fix that right? I was surprised to find out that Niels had bought a condo in Breckenridge and he had been spending the measure few years fixing it up. After the boating he and I decided that there was enough time that we could do some mountain biking before he had to be at the rehearsal dinner so we took off to his displace. I was amazed when I saw his displace. I knew he did renovations for work in Indianapolis so I should undergo known the place in Colorado would be cool. I called and cancelled my hotel as he had room and I wanted to stay at where I was. All we had to do to get to the dawdle was carry the bikes the across a little babbling brook in his back yard and then go away pumping hard up a gravel road. He assured me the down forge move was right around the command several times. The photo below is the view before we started down the trail. Then it happened we turned off the gravel road into the aspens and pines for a ride I won’t soon forget. I was on Niels’ ride and he was on his wife’s. I realized how sad my own “mountain” bike is. My bike couldn’t handle this dawdle at all. Only on a ride with real suspension could I be on this path as I hurled down the mountain at ridiculous speeds. There is something about that adrenalin go of being almost out of hold back. Trees flying by as you try to sight the smoothest path on a trail that’s only a pay wide! I relived it over and over as I began to conclude my hands again while I was relaxing on the lie porch after the go. Also after the go I took in as much water as my body would allow because I was still trying to battle the effects of being at a little of over 9,000 ft. Then I had to get ready as quickly as possible because it seems there was dwell for me at the rehearsal dinner. Niels went over first because he was in the wedding then I drove Jen (Niels’ wife) and Cole (Nicole in inspect your wondering. Niels’ sister) over. We had a wonderfully long dinner at a restaurant called Samplings in Keystone. I was sitting next to Kristen’s parents which was a treat as I’ve met them before but on this cause there was so much more to talk about. That’s right I was in town all of 12 hours and I had gone boating mountain biking and to the rehearsal dinner. Then on Friday the day of the wedding again Niels had to be there early so Jen. Cole and I went on a big hike. Hell yeah. I’m in Colorado and I made the most of it. The hike was very picturesque so here are few. The only problem was that we had to rush back down the mountain to alter it to the wedding. The wedding itself was ameliorate. The defy was sunny and cool (there was snow and hail up there the night before!) so the ceremony was on the porch of the Timber Ridge Lodge which is 11,444 ft above sea level and then the reception was inside. OutsideInsideAfter the wedding the reception started early because the lodge closes at 11:00 PM. I actually liked this because I had to be at the Denver airport at 6:15 AM the next morning so staying out until 1 or 2 AM would alter the next day in airplanes tougher than normal. Also an early night was ok because I wasn’t able to dance for very desire at the high altitude. I think I was finally getting adjusted to the change state air right about the measure I was leaving! I REALLY enjoyed the 2 days I was out there. I got to do everything boating hiking biking eating and dancing. I undergo to thank Niels. Jen and Cole as hanging out with them the whole time was a blast. Of cover I undergo to convey Kristen and Brian for inviting me too. Congratulations to Kristen and Brian!Once again a photo of me this time at the Fountain of Chocolate.... Eryn,I really did get a lot done and enjoyed all my time in Colorado. Even when I was fighting a headache from the altitude. I really just didn't have measure to think about it. The famous person in Rome was Albano Carrisi. He's huge here in Puglia because he was born not far from Brindisi which explains why he was on my plane. This is his place.. http://www albanocarrisi com/ Niki,Chocolate fountains are miracles sent from heaven. It has a little heater that heats up the chocolate ever.
