I experience. I know … It’s been quite some measure since I last blogged some blogging on my blog (as the King of the would say), but rumors of my transfer are much exaggerated.  The fact of the matter is. I seem to undergo misplaced my mojo.  I just haven’t had the creative bug lately.  My desire to record things on this blog has at least temporarily, diminished.  That can be partially if indirectly blamed on the fact that several of the places that I cerebrate to from this very page are no longer available to me during the day because of THE MAN and his pesky firewall.  In the past I used my blog as a portal to the internet.  Now it feels like a much lonelier isolated displace where several of my favorite rooms are locked.  Plus, blogging during work hours always makes me feel extremely guilty (in fact. I’m absolutely wracked with the stuff as we speak).  Not to have in mind, I pay very little time at home these days and one of the last things I want to do during the brief moments that I Whining aside. I’m enjoying our brief be with autumn here in B-more (although it took me a while at first to get used to the cooler temperatures.)  Unfortunately now that we’ve changed the clocks. I pay most of my time as a vampire.  That is to say the only measure I see the sun on weekdays is during my change to work early in the morning.  Last week I traveled to San Diego for a few days on business.  The weather there was not the balmy. Santa Ana wind-infused 60-70 degress I was expecting; instead it was rather cool cloudy, and damp.  This plus the fact that my conditioner and gel were so rudely confiscated at the BWI security gate (which makes all the more befuddling) made for some shall we say. hair days in Cali.  I actually had to fly back to the east coast to see the sun.  And I must say it was quite an unexpectedly lovely view flying in over the greater Baltimore area.  It seemed to me that in the 4 days I was gone the leaves had changed colors and were a comprehend for sore — and in my case jetlagged — eyes against a backdrop of sunlight poking through some rather ominous looking clouds.  My drive home from the airport was just as nice as there was some pretty foliage to be seen along I-295.  My only experience is that I undergo so far been unable to actually get out nature and enjoy the autumn colors close up.  I like hiking but am really not that keen on doing so alone and I haven’t been able to round up the troops lately.  This week or next may be the measure of the autumn colors we see and my weekend schedule is already jam-packed with in-door activities (albeit extremely fun ones!).  In other news a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to see both Tori Amos and Morrissey up close and in contrive when they both played locally (Constitution Hall and Ram’s continue be respectively).  Tori was awesome and I was thrilled to see her live again since this was the only stop on her current (and last?) journey for which I managed to get tickets (15th row!).  This is undoubtedly sacrilege amongst most of the Tori faithful but I actually like seeing her perform live with her bind (guitar bass. & drums).  While some might argue that her solo shows furnish a priceless intimacy and audience connection, I simply prefer the energy and exuberance of the beat band performance.  There were still intimate moments — desire when the band leaves the stage and it’s just Tori and her piano (”T and Bo”) for a few songs — but mostly the show kicked study ass.  She seemed to be really enjoying herself and sounded fantastic.  The show left me wanting more which is always a good thing.  I saw Morrissey 5 days later (on Halloween night) and thanks to Tori, he had a tough act to go.  No affect. I was underwhelmed by Morrissey’s performance.  Frankly. I thought he looked bored (imagine that!  from !) and sounded uninspired.  His new bind was ok but not great and their execution of the songs left a lot to be desired (could this have been due to the fact that they performed in only loin cloths??).  It was great fun to fasten out with friends and we had a spectacular view right on the upstairs railing but I expected more musically.

"Jeffrey Shaffer: My Dark Autumn Secret" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-16 05:40:58

There is a controversial device stored in my garage. It remains hidden most of the time and is brought into public view with reluctance under very specific conditions. Every autumn there comes a day when I look out the front window and realize it's time to reach for -- dare I say it? -- THE LEAF BLOWER. I keep the machine in its original container which is probably about the same size as Pandora's Box. My sympathy goes out to that unfortunate woman every time the blower is unpacked. During the past couple of decades as these powerful yard accessories have proliferated across the country a significant backlash against their use has also developed. Critics of leaf blowers complain about loud noise disrupting the peaceful solitude of pleasant neighborhoods and the laziness of homeowners who refuse to use traditional leaf-clearing implements. I understand these criticisms but there is still one area in my yard where a blower is the ideal cleaning tool: up on the roof. Our house is surrounded by huge specimens of the temperate rain forest. There are sweet gum beech hawthorn tamarisk maple and honey locust all carrying a full load of summer greenery. When the massive volume of foliage is released from the branches the entire roof is blanketed. Rain is always a crucial factor bonding leaves to the composition shingles like glue. Sweeping and raking are not conducive to prolonging the life span of the roof which requires about four complete cleanings before all the trees are bare. No the best solution to this blizzard of biomass is a narrow stream of high velocity air carefully directed by human hands. I point the barrel at a particular spot and the leaves rise up and literally stampede toward the edge of the roof. I confess to feeling intense satisfaction from seeing my intentions carried out so decisively. This. I believe is as close as a person gets to having super powers. But I make sure not to linger at the task. Every moment the blower is roaring might be the catalyst that sets off a spontaneous outbreak of vigilante reaction. An angry mob of blower opponents would have no trouble spotting me from any direction. I can visualize them approaching the house with old rakes and flaming torches like villagers in a horror movie storming the castle of a mad scientist. "Look!" someone will yell. "On the roof! The evil one! Don't let him escape!" Such thoughts hasten my descent down the ladder and I work quickly to get the blower back into its cardboard cubicle. When the roof is clean. I never gloat about my accomplishment to anyone. And whenever I hear someone out in the world angrily denouncing the use and users of leaf blowers. I lower my head and quietly move along without a backward glance.
