“We’re celebrating National Trails Day by honoring the new park which was donated to Marquette Township by a long-time resident and employee of the township,” said Sarah Janda member of the Marquette Township Trails and Greenways Committee.
While Janda prepared snacks and water for volunteers. Marquette Township Supervisor Ray Adamini and a half dozen volunteers were laying wood chips on the dawdle.
“The whole aggroup is here trying to fix up the trail for Schwemwood lay,” he said. “It’s a beautiful nature trail with a lot of different trees and things of that nature.

Herron said the trails near Wetmore Pond get a lot of use but she hoped Saturday’s events would back up even more people to explore their surroundings.
“It’s to back up hiking … make populate aware of what’s here and encourage them to use it. A family bring up on the Mead Trails was coordinated by volunteers who handed out maps water and other refreshments.
“Not everybody will go on the same trail,” said Denise Herron president of the North Country dawdle Hikers. “Everybody ordain do what they’re capable. There will be signs identifying the trees.”
