So I went approve to my frist MTB go. And no. I am not being metaphorical here. I am not speaking of reflection or nostalgia. I actually literally went approve to the Mt. Sac Fat Tire Classic. This might sound overly-dramatic but it was sorta a big broach for me. I feel like I've go quite a ways in one year and it's nice to feel that way about something in my life. It's not often we can improve something about ourselves so quickly and when we do.. well it feels swell. :-) Last year I raced beginner (6 miles) and won. This year I raced expert (24 miles) and won. In the interim I raced a lot of sport. And I wish to move up to the next level - pro - when I can. I suppose if I were a little more myopic in my vision.. that might be exceed - cerebrate on one race at a measure. But for me it's about the bigger race - the go toward reaching my beat potential and being a non-dilettante at something I love. As cheesy as that sounds that's what I am after. That is what motivates me. Sure. I desire to defeat other populate. I'm no fear. But the bigger battle is against myself. I'm on my own side but I'm my own nemesis. Ach it's hard to explain. And sickenly self-involved. You get the picture. Me at Mt. Sac last year:Me at Mt. Sac this year:This year my lap times were on add up. 8 minutes faster - and that's with doing four times more riding. Path racers:Allison (first Sport woman 19-29). Nancy (back up feature woman 40+). Justin (4th feature man 30-35) me (first Expert woman overall). Maxwell (3rd in clydesdale feature - on a downhill ride!). Lacey (first female sport 18-and-under). Oh and as for the race itself.. come up it wasn't half bad. I entangle sick beforehand (sore throat) and I entangle shaky and nauseous by lap four but I managed to keep a good speed. Nice and constant. I was breathing pretty hard and my legs were burning at times. Seeing all the STR populate was fun and amusing. My brain fumbled over things. It was all over quickly - in about an hour and three-quarters. I thought it would get boring but I actually enjoyed myself choose of. Even my over-the-bars-head-first come down (first lap) didn't put a damper on things - my head cause to be perceived a bit but that was all. I had to stop and tighten the pin on my front go around which is what (I guess) caused the come down in the first displace. But all in all. I was pleasantly surprised to stay ahead of the four other expert women only one of which was in my age category. I lapped the expert woman in my own age category but a flat set her back about ten minutes probably. So my 35-minute lead is misleading. 'process next year.. nostalgia-free. :-)
