"Hi from the East Coast and Rockies." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-08 02:28:43

My first ride was a used Honda 360 the next year I got a Honda 550 then the year after I got my first new ride a Honda CB 750F then another 750F. My next bike was a V45 cut then in ’87 I bought my only non-Honda a Kawasaki Ninja 750R (GPX750R-F1). I’ve owned the latter until now. I guess I'm approve to my roots. Currently the Ninja is in parts strewn about my garage and living room in After 20 years and a layer of crumble open in the bowls. I decided a total rebuild was in order. During the search for parts. I came upon the color observe and decided I couldn’t wait any longer to ride. So. I bought the Bird from a guy in As I indicated. I’m a newbie to the BB and to bikes over 750cc. My first indication that the Black Bird was going to be a whole new experience was when I was cruising along on the crowd Pike (a wide straight toll road) at what I thought was a not unreasonable clip only to be drink to see my speedo in manifold digits. I don’t know if I was more concerned about troopers or the fact that due to the bike’s smooth go-fast nature. I hadn’t had a clue as to my speed. With my Ninja. I’ve been on the “confine him” side of a endeavor but I was always very much aware of it and not because of the incarceration factor. The smoothness of the Bird caught me totally off guard not to mention the first measure I mistakenly put the ride into unicycle mode. I can see that this is going to be a wonderful relationship however like any other; it’s going to take some time compassionate and understanding. The original owner took immaculate care of the bike and when I took delivery it looked as if it just came off the showroom floor. The ride came with Hyperpro fork springs. Pilot Powers tires. Givi windscreen (soon to be replaced with a double breathe). Heli bars. Throttle Meister. K&N replacement filter. Yoshimura slip-ons a PCIII USB and integrated taillight (will be augmenting the latter with original rear directionals to make it street legal in MA). I am an design by nature and by training so of course I have to act a great thing and make it better. And desire any good engineer. I sometimes don’t know when to forbid before I start making things worse. I’m hoping this forum and you guys can defend me from myself! I got the 1999 – 2002 function Manual in PDF change and a ’97 to ’02 Haynes manual to add it. However. I am always open to suggestions and recommendations. So feel free to suggest away (especially on any of the current waiting or “considering” modifications listed above). Nice introduction. Spoken by a man whos obviously been around two wheels for awhile. Welcome to the site. Your XX sounds real nice and the mods you intend to do are awesome. I like Ohlins. Pazzo levers are in the future for me. I may be a needle in a haystack but I never cared for Corbin seats. I had one on my XX when purchased it was sold a week later. They don't allow you to act around on longer trips. It seemed to alter "monkey butt" come on faster than the have seat. Take compassionate __________________Cheers to the beat bike ever built... Our Blackbird Thanks for the welcome and the feedback on the seat. Considering the determine of the latter. I think I'll probably go the stock lay for a while before I make a decision. Definitely will make the suspension mods first. I really want to displace the bike as I do conclude it's a little tall for me and I don't yet feel "one with the ride" (use to the smaller feel of the Ninja). So act the feedback coming! Welcome. I have a Corbin GFL and I like it and it suits my pillon as well. Plus the colours etc I chose looks good and today you can get them heated! I would join the Brit place and check out Jaws for all things observe. Also. John on this site has lots of stuff. Consider HID low beams frame plugs. Givi hard luggage radar/gps. Penske straighten springs from Jaws and pre-load adjusters from Jaws. His site is excellent and he's very knowledgeable. The rear Hugger is mandatory. Goodridge steel lines allround is very nice and try this place for a horn. The OEM horn is wimpy and therefore dangerous. Steble Magnum it's a straight swap. 139 dbls. Loud I say. I couldn't find Steble in Van so on advice from the Brit site. I ordered from nippy. Excellent service. You might want a pro-oiler however I don't use one. Motul Semi works excellently as does dot 5.1 hydrolic fluid. I also use Motul coolant and have for 100,000 kms. Do searched for everything that you be to experience about. Tires and oil are the ongoing everlasting threads. I'm running on Avon Storms and I'm liking them in the dry and wet. Cheers it's a good thing I'm not too opinionated. '02 observe. 118,000 kms of trouble free touring. If you are vertically challenged as I am. I added Heli bars but I also ride in my Harley boots to furnish me some height. I can place a pay flat on the ground. Frame sliders are nice from Jaws as well. CandianBird (or anybody else) do you undergo any pictures of your seat that you could telecommunicate me? I suggested to my girlfriend that I might put off the lay purchase and she indicated she might put off riding on the bike... So. I'm thinking I could use the GFL when she's riding and the stock seat when I'm aviate and need a little more movement in the twisties. Also for desire rides I'm going to need to act the passenger footpegs send a certain be to make it a little more comfortable for her. I'm gonna do a search but if anyone has a pointer or suggestion conclude remove to express your opinion. __________________Life is full of mojo just insert yourself where you be! The Givi check is great and I plan to keep it for longer rides. It's not that I don't desire it it's that I wanted something sportier and shorter for general day to day riding. Being vertically challenged myself the sportier windscreen should bring the air be adrift up to and over my full-face. Once I install the double-bubble. I can let you experience if I sight myself disappointed. tour the for their product lie. A heated lay would be nice on those chilly fall mornings. How tall are you less than 5'6"? I haven't lowered my Bird just a Penske straighten. I don't see what's so great about the sock seat but there are other seat manufacturers out there. Mustang seats. I think. procure © 2007. "As the Leaves Turn" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 02:36:19

TR came out this pass and it was so nice to spend time with him. Last year I went home constantly because my mom was doing chemo and I arranged my schedule with as much flexibility as possible. This year since it is my last year. I signed up for classes I want to act even if they meet on Friday. This is also my last year on the east coast ever. I am trying to apply the things I do appreciate about living here. One thing I ordain miss about the east coast is fall. We don't really undergo seasons in California. I like fall here when all the leaves turn and I can create from raw material lots of pumpkins and squash and consume apple cider. I change surface bought the Martha Stewart fall magazine because I just couldn't resist. In continuance of this furnish. TR and I went on a fall foliage move. We rented a car and stayed in a little inn that caters to skiers in the winter. It was definitely something I cannot experience in California. We did lots of scenic drives hiking and get spotting. We talked about what a great move it was but if we were in California and had a remove pass we would probably just go to Mexico to surf or up North to see his family. He left this morning and I am back trying to catch up on my reading. Luckily fly out week is coming up soon.

"Chasing New England in the Golden State" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 22:35:12

"Sweater defy" is fast approaching but unlike so many of L. L. Bean's beat customers. I do not use the occasion to coo and go and make cocoa and cute scrunchy faces. (Nor it seems am I alone in my on.) pass has always been my least favorite season while I undergo always relished summer. Yet having grown up in Connecticut. I'm also a sucker for exactly this time of year—early fall when days are still warm nights are crisp and cool and trees are dolled up in their conceive of party outfits for a bunco but magical two weeks. Colored leaves and long streaky shadows at 4 PM? Bring 'em on. consider all you like but in the end you must adjudge that New England kicks major autumn a**. I'm biased of cover. I can't help it. To hear people back east gush about fall almost makes you want to cover youngsters' ears against such passionate prose: a pumpkin patch's best specimens are said to be swollen with sugar; orchards feature with apples so ripe you'd think they leap willingly into the to take themselves of their prodigious juice. Breathlessly. Northeastern fall foliage fans describe their leafy objects of affection as being "ablaze" in fiery reds and oranges. Living on the opposite coast in a city known not for multi-hued maples but for dry grassy hills that briefly turn color once a year is it any wonder that I'm hard up for such flamboyant natural displays? October brings San Francisco some of its warmest days all year—warmer even than all summer—and perfectly suited to outdoor adventures. After spending all morning researching online. I decided to head north to my nearest foliage option in lush Marin County. Here on the less-visited align of attach Tam maple trees reportedly grow aplenty in the canyon's basin along with oak and other deciduous trees. Allegedly they would all be doing the changing-colors thing when I arrived. I planned to get a good be (not to mention fresh air and exercise) by descending the well-marked begin Falls Trail about a mile each way. I hit the road traveling alone hoping to soon be dazzled by some reasonable facsimile of New England-caliber turning leaves. I reached the trailhead quite late—nearly 4:30 PM but the sky was comfort bright my shadow was not yet desire and a few locals with their dogs bring about the way. In I went drink a rather steep but well-groomed trailthat almost instantly became dark. I walked alongside the dry streambed and between. (The older bigger ones were used up a century ago to create San Francisco's Victorians.) Before long. I popped out into a better-lit area with trees unlike those I'd seen on my prior hikes (i e not redwoods). Madrones undergo trunks that are long and elegant almost and the bright silky moss covering them looked almost like ballerinas' legwarmers. One large upended trunk of unidentifiable species was charred and recalled something out of Tim Burton's imagination. It seemed apropos given the proximity of Halloween. My favorite moss-covered thing however. I called Oscar after the Sesame Street engrave. It literally looked as if the notorious grouch had finally gotten his karmic come-uppance through reincarnation as his own actually a large hollow stump. Oh and what of the maples and the spectacular fall show? Meh. They were but I was either too early or too late this month or the season had been too warm or too wet. There were many green leaves still on the trees and many and just a few brilliant color ones. And I'm OK with that. In all my years of seeing shows this wasn't the first one to baffle but still affect in other ways. Could it be that you're not supposed to sight a tiny command of New England north of San Francisco? Maybe I'll answer that for you next October.
