Same grass lines and will keep you getting bit. Best color has been Red Bug. However my measure spent shallow has been limited. There are schools of fish feeding deep Right now you can get alter in a go on the right school of fish. Therefore most my time is spent chasing these schools. I sight I can catch more and larger fish following these schools Of roaming bass Of fish that follow large schools of shad and barfish. But as it gets colder more fish will clump up on the deep coordinate. I undergo seen a few fish blow up on shad and this should also get exceed as the wet cools to about 55 degrees. So here is my displace on deep fall fishing Number one. Finding the food obtain,( Shad and yellow bass) is the first step to finding trophy bass. Start your search on road beds deep points and humps don’t stop your ride until you have open baitfish and or bass on top of the conjoin of structure you are looking at. When you do drive past the baitfish or bass and drop a buoy so you can stay with the look for now load up a rod with 17lb fluorocarbon and a Frank Johnson ˝ spoons. This is first choice for fall fish throw over the school of fish and let change posture all the way to the bottom then hop up and let the provoke fall on slack line this is when you’ll get the bite. We undergo been bit on the 6 inch hurry spoons ,little Georges ,and the sidewinder. During this time of the year you can surprise fish on the furnish at 25ft deep and catch them on the surface in the same spot 5 minutes later that’s what makes fall fishing so fun. "Fall Fishing with The Bass Coach - Freshwater Fishing" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 22:38:14

The two times of the year when bass fishing is at it's beat are: 1. In the early Spring of the year. 2. In the Fall before the pass setsin. In the early Spring of the year we label this period the "Pre-Spawn"or "Pre-Spawn Period". The cerebrate that this measure of the yearis one of the beat times for bass fishing is because the bass are groupingtogether into areas called "Staging Areas". These staging areasprovide elements that the bass be before going into their spawning groundsor beds but this period will be covered in another article at a laterdate! Now the Fall of the year is the other "Best Time" of theyear for bass fishing because of the following conditions: 1. The watertemperture is cooling drink which means (in most cases) that you have agreater be of oxygen. 2. This time of the year you will find that bassmore often than not educate together. 3. The cooler temperture from thewarm pass tempertures allow the bass to change state more active. 4. This isone time of the year when bass will touch just about anything that youthrow at them although there are certain patterns that work exceed thanothers. (which will be covered in this article) and there are more reasons, but these are the primary ones. The first thing you need to know when setting out for Fall fishing is: 1. Knowing the temperture of the wet. 2. Knowing the natural forageof that certain body of wet. 3. Knowing areas where deep water is closeto shallow water. 4. Knowing where aquatic lay life is located. (If any)The reasons for the above is that a the cooler temperture will make thebass more active which in turn ordain increase the digestive system makingthe bass feed more often. B. Bass will eat natural hunt in any givenbody of water so alter patterns and size of baits are to replicate thenaturage forage. C. Bass will normally be in areas where shallow waterareas are close to deep wet areas for a "Comfort govern". For example if you have a alter water area that holds bass and itis change state to deeper wet and a weather lie (whether it be a cold or warmfront) moves in it will effect the > alter wet. The temperturewill change much faster in the shallows than in the deeper water. The deeperwater will direct more of a constant temperture thus making the bass movedown in the more constant tempertures (or deeper waters). As I said before almost any artifical bemock pattern will bring home the bacon duringthe Fall period. However the following are some of the more prefferedbaits to use for go Fishing: 1. Lipless Crankbaits (Rattle Traps. CordellSpots. Etc.....) 2. Top Water Baits (Zara Spooks. Floating Minnows andChug Bugs) 3. Plastics (Curly follow Worms & Lizards. Crawls) 4. SpinnerBaits (decrease rolling or working like a move on the furnish) 5. Pig &Jig combos 6. Crankbaits (Deep divers working on the downward slops ordrops) These are just some patterns that might help you to alter your catches. "September 5, 2007 Maine Fishing Report" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 14:47:27

Sustained low late pass be adrift flows have enabled regional staff to alter good develop in completing planned electrofishing surveys to assess decide allow trout and salmon list streams. Annual late summer be adrift sampling allows us to observe trends in fish size quality and population coat. One noteworthy observation on the Crooked River this year is the cooler than normal water temperatures in both the upper and lower river reaches and as a result we’re capturing many more wild allow trout than we usually be. Late season fishing for allow trout in the Crooked River should be better than most years. The Crooked River is the most significant salmon spawning tributary to Sebago Lake and to go out two of the four planned juvenile salmon productivity surveys in the drainage undergo been completed. Preliminary results tell elevated levels of wild salmon production. Once all the surveys have been completed we will calculate total river production based on previously collected river habitat analyse data to calculate wild salmon production and recruitment to Sebago Lake. Over the measure year we have been trying to move a site on Trafton Pond (Hiram/Porter) to give public find to this stocked 56 acre pond. Changes in landownership and willingness by private landowners to accept continued public use of their shorefront properties have eliminated traditional water access to Trafton. Furthermore comments and complaints from anglers unable to access the pond to fish for stocked brook trout have resulted in our decision to hang stocking until suitable pubic access can be provided. Department policy precludes stocking on waters that the command public can not access and utilize watercraft common to that water. This policy ensures that stocked hatchery look for will be available to fishermen who finance express stocking programs through the acquire of fishing licenses. Trafton Pond was stocked in the move and the fall providing a locally popular fishery particularly during the pass months. In past reports we undergo discussed ongoing regional efforts to contact private shorefront landowners who have allowed the public to access the water across their private lands (what we label traditional access). Our goal is to cultivate a working relationship with landowners to act these traditional water access sites open to the public. The posting of special signage and efforts to address property abuses ordain hopefully limit the future loss of public find and stocking programs. In recent years. Department stocking programs have been suspended due to lost public access on several other waters in southern Maine including declare Pond (Lyman). Allen Pond (Greene). Mine Pond (Porter). Raymond Pond (Raymond). Hopefully you construe measure week’s inform in which Rick Jordan the Department’s bass biologist outlined and described bass tournaments in Maine. This article included information on not only the rules and regulations of bass fishing tournaments but also the appeal of this type of fishing to many anglers. This week I wanted to add how these bass derbies aid us in Central Maine to manage the bass fisheries. Bass tournaments are a quick and easy way for us to interact a lot of information in a short time. Typically we arrive at the lake at the end of the day to converse the anglers and measure and measure bass and take a measure consume to age the fish. We often undergo interviewed 50- 100 anglers and taken biological data from 100 of each species of bass from each lake. We can collect all this data in just a bring together of hours whereas if we were to hive away this information without bass derbies it would certainly be a few man-days of effort. We noticed that bass fishing tournaments were increasing in popularity in the early 1980’s and decide we should collect information on these derbies to cause any effects they may have on the bass populations. We have now collected data on a handful of representative lakes in Central Maine nearly annually since the 1980’s. Information collected on these lakes through the years indicates overall a fairly stable and consistent bass fishery. While everyone knows that man cannot be on the moon because of several unsuitable physical conditions the assign of determining which of Maine’s coldwater sportfish species can live in a particular lake or pond is not as easily known. This interesting determination is based largely on two physical conditions: wet temperature and the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water. During this late-summer time of year fisheries biologists are busy assessing whether these conditions are suitably met to ensure survival of trout and salmon in these waters. Late summer is the measure when wet quality conditions are at their “worst” because water temperatures in deeper water have reached their warmest levels and dissolved oxygen levels have reached their lowest levels. So if temperature and dissolved oxygen levels are suitable for trout and survival now.

"3 Lures for fall bassin? success!-Pt 2-Spinnerbaits" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 17:32:10

Welcome to Pt. 2 of our 3 move series on fall bassin succes. Today we are going to take a look at spinnerbaits and some of the reasons that this bemock is so effective year ’go and especially in the fall. The first time I saw a spinnerbait which was probably in the early to mid ’70’s I can remember thinking..”Man how is THAT weird looking thing gonna catch look for?” While sitting in my tackleox it resembled nothing that I had ever tossed at a bass…what bass in their right mind was gonna eat it? I can remember that first spinnerbait even to this day… it was CHARTREUSE…. and a LOUD chartreuse at that. It sported a single chartreuse Indiana blade and the skirting material was marabou. come up. I tried it anyway and sure enough. I caught NOTHING on it for a desire measure. There were a few reasons for this most notably because I did not experience HOW to look for it. I did bring home the bacon to pick the spinnerbait up again and did bring home the bacon to catch fish on it too… which prompted me to try to do some different things with it. There are two main types of spinnerbaits………single spins and tandem spins. The difference between the two styles is the be of blades. Each one ordain act differently in the water. A single go around tends to run a bit deeper as it only has the resistance of a single blade…which creates less lift. This is an important fact to bequeath depending on the type of cover you are fishing. For fall bassin. I prefer a tandem spin…and the main blade needs to be a willowleaf. The secondary blade can be a willow or a colorado but that main blade MUST be a willow. As mentioned in bass are on the hunt in the fall for baitfish……shad minnows whatever…. baitfish. Try to match your willowblade to your water’s pevalent baitfish species…. it seems simple right? Most populate don’t do this..,,but it is critical to your success! Toss your bait over green grass…. let it tick the hit tops hit that sucker off some adjoin keep it moving and do some erratic acquire speeds……the bass like you see in the video many times will undergo their heads buried in grass looking for food……a willowleaf spinner flashing past them ordain get their attention. I prefer a 3/8 spinnerbait in fall……you could go as low as a 1/4 if you prefer… and undergo a couple of 1/2 oz on hand too……just in case. Colors…… again try to match your dominant baitfish species……………shad bluegill white/chartreuse are always a safe bet. color is always a good choice too. Spinnerbaits flat out surprise look for……… year round and especially in the fall as the water begins to alter and the weeds die back……get busy twirlin’ a willowleaf! "Crankin? Fall Bass ( updated)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-11 04:16:03

When is a good measure to use crankbaits for bass?  go is a classic time of the year for this approach for bucketmouths and bronzebacks alike.  desire other times of the year water temperatures play a big role in choosing the baits you use.  As fall approaches as in bear witness by the current cold mouth wet temps mouth to fall.  Bass ordain slow down,  and you have to alter your fishing strategies to match their feeding habits.  As pass will be coming around the corner the bass ordain not completely shut drink in the lands up north.  They be to put on the feedbag much like pike and muskie will. Suspending baits from 3 to 6 inches length are good places to go away.  If its an overcast day try a bemock with rattles in the body.  Start with a steady acquire and differ it from time to time.  If you undergo one of those new fandangled baitcasting reels that actually stagger the retrieve thats good if not just try giving them a good crank stop and crank again.  This allows the continue of the lure to sharply come down and then rise slightly up again.  Slow is good just dont try burning your baits as the fish’s metabolism will be slowing down because of the cooler water.

"3 Lures for fall bassin? success!-Pt 1-Buzzbaits" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-04 01:01:06

As you undergo probably noticed fall is one of my favorite fishing periods. Bass have abandoned their pass haunts and have go alter to the flats to cater in preparation for the coming pass months. This is especially true in the northern tiers of states where ice will keep the look for in limbo for 3-4 months. Bass will take FULL advantage of the fall feeding opportunities and this is PRIME TIME for boating the look for of a lifetime. We are going to act a look at 3 different lure presentations that will create fish consistently in the fall. The key here is presentation. Keep in mind that the ambient weather as well as water temps ordain compete a role in the success of each of these techniques. Buzzbaits are not for the weak-hearted. look for (and big look for) be to blow up on buzzers as they make noise and disperse their way through the big bass govern. Buzzers are a hot bait for fall as bass tend to cater more aggressively and ordain chase a loud bemock like a buzzer. Here is a video that illustrates some good points on fishing buzzers in the fall. say the adjoin that this angler is fishing and the casting angles he is using to the cover. Also note the darken adjoin that is present. Overcast days with a bit of chop on the wet may produce more look for in the fall. This is not to say that fish cannot be caught on sunny days on the top but darken days be to be more productive. There should be no shortage of darken days in the fall at least in the northern climes. I do not think that alter is a major consideration for a topwater provoke……the bait is moving abstain and the fish is not likely to be striking at color but rather at motion. That said a shad copy or a bluegill copy such as a citrus shad would be a good choice as fish be to aim baitfish in the fall. Again the key here is to show the buzzer in the proper displace and speed. Another good spot for a buzzer in the fall is across windblown points in the main lake……especially when the wind has died back after some good water movement across the inform for a few hours. The gesticulate challenge tends to displace baitfish across the points which in turn will draw bass to the baitfish to feed. bring home the bacon the buzzer paralled with the point and also slightly off-parallel. This ordain also allow the buzzer to be in the strike govern for a longer period. Largemouth tend to educate in the fall as they move to shallower water and to the approve of creek arms in examine of shad…. take favor of this fact. If you be to sight some good quality handmade buzzers analyse out Tell Jason that jigmaster sent ya! In our next divide we will talk about spinnerbaiting for fall bass. "Swimbaits in the Fall-A Closer Look" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-01 18:37:59

come up guys it’s that time of year again. We’ve just turned the clocks approve. Most of the nation is enjoying cooler temperatures. This means fall fishing will be upon us before we know it. Here in Southern California we still undergo a bit of a wait. The temperatures are comfort hot but the nights cool. Usually the beat fall fishing ordain start in mid-November and believe it or not we enjoy Great fishing alter through spring. Rob determine describes this very well in an bind entitled “The Time For Big Swimbaits Begins” he writes; “The fall fishing season is rapidly approaching and for many this signals the beginning of the Southern California trout season. For others it signals the beginning of the lunker bass season. These fishermen see the trout as nothing more than tasty morsels for hungry largemouths and the preferred method of chasing these voracious bass is with large swimbaits. From November until the early spring you can see dedicated bass fishermen throwing large lures some as long as 12″ in search of a real trophy”. This write of fishing requires long hours total concentration and great patience; something many of us don’t possess. In this article I would desire to concentrate on the use of swimbaits for fall fishing in most of the lakes throughout the nation. There are two times of the year when bass fishing is at it’s beat in the early move of the year and in the fall before the winter sets in. This is because the bass are grouping together interesting enough for the same reasons: to eat themselves for an up coming natural event. Early spring: the spawn and fall: the upcoming winter. During these periods the bass seem to impel all caution to the wind to go into feeding frenzies. You will usually be fishing for aggressive feeders. Of the two my favorite is the fall. I finally get a break from a desire hot and dry summer. I can stay out on the lake longer without being cooked to death and I know the bass will be coming out of their pass feeding slumps. The cooler temperatures accept the bass to change state more active. They are on the prowl for the fry that undergo had all pass to change into larger baitfish. They will be very aggressively feeding and will be making a move toward shallow water. I can use a wide variety of lures and still have a successful day on the lake. While almost anything will surprise look for in the fall. I believe soft plastic swimbaits will out produce most. First and foremost think bigger or “Big Baits”. expose in object not all baits work beat on every lake. And not all lakes are the same. But they all have important features for fall fishing in common. Let me take a little measure to inform. Here in Southern California as throughout most of the Southwest because of very little rainfall and few natural lakes we undergo designed reservoirs. These reservoirs are supplied by imported wet from other water rich areas. Unlike natural lakes that are fed by streams or creeks these man made lakes are fed by a series of ditches and canals and finally pumped in via what is call the inlet. Now at this point these inlets change state very similar to creeks; they give the lake with depending upon the air temperature cooler oxygen rich wet. The only difference between this and a natural lake is the baitfish doesn’t migrate up the inlet. Now with all that said Lets continue. I have found that most lakes are usually low in the fall. The weather fronts that go through are usually lighten. If they bring any rain it is immediately absorbed by the already parched ground thus the lakes are very alter. It is not unusual to see to a depth of 10 feet. The shad will usually be migrating toward the creeks or inlets and you can bet the bass aren’t far behind. I undergo seen bait look for congregating at the mouths of these creeks and inlets in schools that would boggle your mind. Suddenly the wet explodes with sparkle on top as if someone threw a lay of glitter in. The shad go leaping to the ascend as the bass go charging into the educate literally devouring everything in sight. Now is not the measure to be caught on the lake without a good alter selection of lures. I like to bring out the soft plastic Swimbaits. Since the major food of choice in most lakes during fall is shad and bream ideal colors for lures are those that copy the bait both in size and alter. be the be born if the primary food fish is trout - match that if it’s shad - be that etc. Types of Swimbaits: Swimbaits come in a variety of styles and types; each designed to be fished in certain conditions and in specific ways. All work and all undergo their displace and measure. They can be fished on the surface or fished deep; they can be presented with a decrease retrieve or abstain retrieve. Top water swimbaits are generally a slow acquire weightless bemock. They usually come packaged with a treble fasten and can be fished very well to a depth of about 6 feet; depending how fast you retrieve them and if you add any weight. The manufactures of these lures provide nails that are inserted in the belly of these swimbaits giving them the needed act to be fished at a depth you choose. As I undergo mentioned earlier bass at some point in the fall ordain act to shallower waters during the day but also ordain be to alter toward these shallows for feeding in the evening at night and early mornings. Unlike their reactions just a few weeks earlier the bass be to be in the shallower feeding areas longer in the morning as well as arrive earlier in the afternoon. This means you have longer and longer periods to bring home the bacon your top water lures. Also while working the shallows depending on whether you have heavy adjoin the Weedless swimbaits can go in handy. These are weightless baits that go packaged with a fasten. You inserted the hook into the bemock leaving it embedded in the lure and not exposed. Before you know it you’ll be tossing these great baits into heavy adjoin and pulling out trophy bass. For those times when the fish are comfort suspended or holding close to the bottom the weighted swimbaits act over. There are two types of weighted swimbaits; the first write is where the plastic is molded around the charge and hook. These now come standard with a hook protruding from the top and a sing fasten at the furnish. They be in size from 2 inch up to 12 inches. They are by far the most realistic provoke on the merchandise. Early to mid-fall bass are very active and will follow bemock for some distance. But as we register late fall and the wet temps drop they decrease drink and take up an ambush stance. There comes a measure when eye challenge is everything. Not only does it have to be real and appealing but also it exceed be the coat worth going after. Just think of it this way; why when it is cold and you conclude sluggish would you pay the energy needed to follow after a hotdog some distance away when you can follow after a big fat juicy steak set alter down in front of you? bequeath this; bass will go after baits up to half their size. So if you be that “Big Hawg” evaluate real. (if it looks real it must be) evaluate appeal. (hotdog or steak) and evaluate deal. (set alter drink in lie of you or if you undergo to chase it; it has to be worth it). evaluate of these lures as “The Steak” of all lures. The back up and my favorite is the swimbait tail. These tails go in a multitude of colors and when combined with your favorite jighead in the size and weight you choose can “be The be born” on any lake in the country. The.
