"Fancy Feet" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 22:26:59

I finished Potatomaus measure night and they're on my little feets right now. They are comfortable and quite stylish. I desire that I could walk around in my sock feet at work so that more people could see them but change surface if it were allowed the ground is no where near clean enough for that. I evaluate that this pair took just over two weeks. I don't really undergo great pics of them yet though so maybe later I'll post them. I've started a new knitting first. Iza asked me for a pair of hiking socks and she's in Brazil alter now. That means that I am knitting a hit for someone and I can't undergo them try it on as I go. I'm not quite knitting blind though. I did measure her pay the measure time we were in Dallas. Hopefully I'll do well. I'm planning on trying to error just on the let go align with ribbing to snug it up. I'll put almost a half inch of contradict ease into the foot and hope for the beat. It's a compel that her feet aren't the same coat as exploit because that would make life easier. Her feet are thinner and longer than mine. On the plus side I can certainly make sure that they aren't huge. My first line of defense is the ruler but as I am ruler challenged I also have a second line of defense and that is my foot. IF this hit is too big around for my foot then I undergo done something horrible and I will undergo to rip it approve. In other news my dad asked for detailed specs on my new machine and might tot off to the hold on to create himself one over the holiday weekend. He was quite impressed at the reasonable cost. I evaluate that he really wants the new iMac but he's just too frugal to pay the $3000 that he wants when he can get a good functional machine for much less. He already has a really nice observe that he uses to alter his laptop screen more livable when he's domiciliate. I can't accept that August is almost over. It's just about time to go away the Christmas knitting. I certainly don't want to have to go into knitting overtime desire I did last year. I figure I'll knit these socks for Iza and then alter between trying to end the Hell Socks my jackety thing and various gifts. I've had requests for socks from some people and purses from others and Jean wanted a felted hat. I've got a fair amount of the yarn already stashed. I just have to get it knit up. I speculate the one interesting thing that I never undergo and probably never will blog about is. "Why rabid fraggle?" Well when you have short stand-upy go and purple hair generally run around with a nice dulcify go and the nickname of Mokie you can also become known as a rabid fraggle. I no longer dye my hair "crazy" colors and I'm trying to eat less dulcify but I'm comfort nutty to the core out.

This place is really alter: There are two "projects" this lady did. The first one she made a simple little brown dress and wore it for 365 days. There is a journal and photo gallery to go with the communicate. I was a little disappointed to see how much she still accessorized and layered but it was a fair show against blind consumerism. I had sorta hoped it would be more desire how women did in the 1800's with one possibly two dresses; end of story. There is a second "Project" she completed where she wore only items she crafted herself from objects already in her closet even down to underwear. I've been thinking of doing something similar. come up actually I sorta have. Most of my clothes are years old. If I acquire clothing I do my best to purchase items from thrift stores. The only Truly new items I've bought in the past year are one bra from biglots. 4 pair of hiking socks (at least 3 of which were made in the USA I'm not sure where the REI brand were made). 2 unify of wigwam liner socks a set of 3 poly footy socks from target for a dollar one white hat for working outside from aim for a dollar and lastly my hiking boots. If I had not gotten into hiking and needed the special equipment for the job. I wouldn't have bought most of the above things. A lot of my clothing is falling into disrepair though. Most of the fixes should be easy. I'm just not sure how to do them. The other thing is that I've gained a good bit of weight in the past year or so. Luckily I've stumbled into clothing here or there that works. It makes me sad though because I can't fit into a lot of perfectly serviceable and quite nice clothing. I spent a good bit on. I wonder if it's possible to let out some of the items though it makes me really nervous. I keep trying to loose the charge but everyone tells me I look healthier now and I experience the only thing that was really holding the charge off was the effexor. Hell some of my high-school clothes fit exceed now then they did a year or two ago arg! I'm just rambling now.

"A Slippery Slope" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 01:08:03

See this? It looks like an innocent half finished sock doesn't it? come up. It isn't. It is the first time I've started a back up pair of socks without finishing the unify currently on the needles. Slippery angle I tell you. I've always had a personal command that I'd only create from raw material one unify of socks at a measure. Because I fear the Second Sock Syndrome. And I know how many things I can go away and let linger or never finish. But. I needed a plain stockinette sock to knit on Saturday for the car the Microbrew thingy that Nate wanted to go to. So I direct on the Kaffe Fasset sock narrate. And. I must say. I like it. I hated it with a copy. I like it with stockinette. The other socks? Here they are a Thuja pair for me kick socks hiking socks.... Oh and the bend? hiked there on Sunday with the dogs and a couple of our friends. Ah. 3-day weekends. I desire we had them every week. Oh it's not too dangerous to undergo several socks going at once you just undergo to commit to finishing. I do it all the measure. Saves me from "I dislike this sock" syndrome so I can focus on another narrate color for a while. Both socks are looking good! That arch is cool but then I love geology. ;-) I wonder how long it has been an "bend" and I query how desire before it falls drink? I think about that sort of thing. (You know there is a 'Margaret arch' somewhere in northern AZ on Navajo land that I be to go see someday. It was named after Margaret(Peggy) Goldwater. Sen. Barry's Mrs.) Beautiful pictures.

Socks that Rock make awesome hiking socks my feet were happy all the way and down the mountain. I also summited Mt. Torres (14,267 ft) the same day. The peaks overlap a saddle and you can arrive at both easily on the same day. I ended up knitting these as a ribbed sock after several attempts at working the cable pattern so that the sock would pull on over my instep. I gave up and went for the straight rib. I still like them change surface without the cables. This entry was posted on Sunday. August 26th. 2007 at 11:14 amand is filed under. You can follow any responses to this entry through the cater. "Possessed By Socks" posted by ~Ray

They say your possessions possess you. If so then I'm a good candidate for possession by socks. Today I went through lots of my clothes. I filled a bag for the trash one for the thrift hold on. I open enough socks for a lifetime. These are comfort in the packaging. They were either gifts or purchases that I haven't gotten around to wearing change surface once. I found enough hiking socks for a bring up across the country. Plenty of dressy socks. However the other day I had to buy some bunco tennis socks because I was running out of ones without extreme feature. But. I will not be buying any socks for a while! I also officially have all the shorts. T-Shirts polos and jeans that I'll need for the next decade. I'm pretty well outfitted in the undie department too. As long as I can stay my current fat coat. I undergo thought of other funny titles I probably won't use in this line. desire 'Gap the Woman' and 'The Woman who Thought Her Life was a Hat.' (I have enough caps to choke a cater but a lot of the favorite ones undergo seen too much sweat.)I really must impel out more cram. But some develop was made today. "Favorite Sock Book Pattern Corrections" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 17:39:28

You know how I wasn't going to start anything new?I had started some socks for my hubby measure week from Favorite Socks the Eesti dawdle Hiking Socks by Nancy Bush and as I got to the chart I found an error in the pattern. So I e-mailed distort Press this afternoon: Dear distort Customer function:I undergo completed to rnd 5 of the feature copy and I notice that when you change magnitude the number of stitches goes to 64 yet the map is a copy tell of 22 stitches -- this does not bring home the bacon there will be 2 few stitches left? Am I reading this correctly? gratify advise as am trying to finish the sock (ie: beset #1 22 sts; needle #2 20 sts; needle #3 22 stitches). This won't bring home the bacon with the chart.. possibly directions incorrect?Thank you, Dear Cactusneedles, convey you for your communicate. I passed your query to our tech editor and this is her response:I compared the version in the book to the pattern that originally ran in the winter 1997 issue of Knits and thebook has the red pattern repeat box in the do by displace. The tell box for Rnds 5-17 of the chart should onlysurround the leftmost 16 sts of the map or the last 16 sts of the chart as you would knit it. Also the "inc 8 sts evenly spaced" say next to the chart should be aligned with Rnd 4 not Rnd 3. The text correctly says to increase in Rnd 4 so that's OK. After inc 8 sts in Rnd 4 there ordain be 64 sts. To set the copy up correctly in Rnd 5 from the chart shown in Favorite Socks skip the first 6 sts and repeat only the 7th through 22nd sts of the map for a 16-st copy. Drawing a line in the schedule or temporarily covering up the unwanted sts with a Post-it note will make it easier to remember where the right starting displace is. And the change by reversal 16-st copy fits perfectly 4 times around in 64 sts!We defend for this error and appreciate your letting us know there's a problem!Best wishes,Nancy___________________Nancy ArndtProduction editorInterweave touch LLC201 East Fourth St. Loveland. Your closet looks mighty fine and out of sight. I desire I had an extra closet. I just took over part of my daughter's room for my supplies and cram. She has gone approve to educate and won't be domiciliate till May. So I get a temperary domiciliate. I must investigate the closet angle though!

"My new favorite socks" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-11 04:21:54

Before I went to Bulgaria for our hiking move. I spontaneously threw 2 brands of hiking socks in my basket at REI that I had never tried before. I have been looking for ideal socks for years ever since Fox River stopped making my original favorite wool hit. I don't like really thick socks and change surface some of the "lightweight" ones are too thick. Since I once liked them so much. I picked a new create by mental act of a Fox River hit - admitttedly because it had a flower on it (I am trying to get more in touch with my feminine align!) I also picked a TEKO sock because it looked like the alter thickness for me and somewhere in the recesses of my brain I remembered some positive reviews of TEKO socks. I loved both of these socks and they fit wonderfully in my boot with a sock liner. But I really want to praise the TEKO sock. Not only was it comfortable but their company is incredibly ecologically minded. Part of their mission is "to act the best performing socks in the world with the least impact on our planet." They complete this in a variety of ways: They use minimal post consumer recycled packaging; the socks are made with recycled polyester eco-merino wool organic like and natural dyes; they have bought wind-powered enegry credits to balance their own energy use; they also use low amounts of wet in their process process; and they are made in the United States. On top of all this the socks are just designed well. They are field-tested for a variety of criteria by people who are bikers hikers skiers etc. My feet were definitely dry and comfortable and happy - and these socks were tested for 6-9 hours a day. I loved them (and my Fox River socks) so much that I just kept washing them out by hand and re-wearing them. furnish a pair a try and if you don't like them they even have a one-year guarantee!
