"Hanover New Hampshire Homes for Sale" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-16 05:40:34

It feels great to be back in the UpperValley! My wife. Marina and I have bought a house in Thetford and have been busy scraping wall paper plastering walls (with help from the Master Plasterer. Pat McCleary ) and painting. With the skin worn thin on my hands two pair of pants and three t-shirts covered with paint I couldn’t be happier. Thetford feels like home. I’m in love and I work for what I feel is the best real estate company in New England. Coldwell Banker Redpath & Company. Everyday as I drive to and from work on 91 I’m blown away with the beauty of the UpperValley. The stretch of 91 from Hanover to Thetford has to be one of the prettiest in the country. Highways in general aren’t very exciting but after living in Los Angeles and crawling along the 405. 91 feels like classical music filling my pores with its smooth spotless surface spectacular views and no stress driving. Hanover’s energy has been increasing daily with Dartmouth students coming back into town businesses getting ready for fall foliage and the upcoming Dartmouth football season with the home opener against Colgate September 15th. Go Big Green! Hanover and Lebanon high school soccer teams promise to be competitive once again. If you missed them play in last years state championship make sure to see them play this year. The first match up between Lebanon and Hanover is September 18th at 4:30pm at Lebanon High School. Their second match up is October 16th at 4pm in Hanover. The positive energy of Hanover is contagious. Just try walking past the Canoe club without smiling as you pass hundreds of patrons eating and drinking wine. Or better yet go inside and have a drink yourself. Even Money Magazine and National Geographic Adventurer have voted Hanover as one of the top ten towns to live in. This area rocks and we’re all a part of it. Starting out in my new profession with Coldwell Banker Redpath in Hanover has been good fun. I grew up watching Ned Redpath build his business into what it is today so when I decided to become a Realtor the only call I made was to his office. Ned spends time with his agents guiding them and making sure the customer is always taken care of. Our customer service at Coldwell Banker Redpath & Co blows all other real estate companies away. We have a full time concierge for our past and present customers we have a moving truck customers can use for free around town and our offices computers and fax machines are available for our customers at no charge. Have you ever heard of a real estate company doing that for their customers? I hadn’t and I love that fact that we all work as a team for our customers. This is one great company. If you have friends or family that need to buy or sell a home have them call me. This is an exciting market for both buyers and sellers and having just completed the purchase of my own home I have first hand experience in today’s market. Marina and I had a lot of sleepless nights needlessly worrying about the process. I won’t let that happen to you or your friends. Buying a home is an exciting experience an emotional experience. Whether it is your first or tenth purchase I’ll help make the experience easier and more comfortable. And if you’re worried about getting a loan make sure to read the article below. Banks Woo Borrowers Who Have Good CreditBanks have plenty of money available for borrowers with great credit and a desire for a conventional fixed rate mortgage says James Chessen chief economist for the American Bankers Association. To attract these customers lenders are offering fee waivers competitive interest rates and a willingness to negotiate. Banks like conventional borrowers because they tend to be the kind of customers that will take advantage of other products from the lender including savings accounts credit cards and checking accounts. "We find that someone who has a mortgage with us will have about five products in addition to the mortgage," says Terry Francisco a spokesman for Bank of America Corp. To attract this kind of business. Bank of America is offering "No Fee Mortgage Plus," saving consumers about $3,000 in closing costs which the bank covers. Deals like this one make it important for borrowers with good credit to shop around. Source: The Wall Street Journal. Julian Mincer (09/06/2007)That’s it for now. Have a great fall season and make sure to let me know what you’re up to.

"There's The Matter Of Torture, Senator" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 02:35:47

notes that Sen. Patrick Leahy wants Attorney General nominee Michael Mukasey to answer a range of questions about how Bushco operates from the warrantless wiretaps to the firing of the prosecutors who didn’t do the bidding of Abu G and the Senate Repugs.(Hmm. “Abu G. And The Senate Repugs”; does that sound like a name for a punk garage band playing at the Khyber in downtown Philly or something? Just wondering…). However as important as those other issues are the story only makes a passing reference to anguish or as the Globe puts it. “interrogation methods with captured terrorist suspects” (a matter which along with just about everything else is “off limits” as far as White accommodate lawyer Fred Fielding is concerned). Gee. Fred. Vermont is lovely this time of year. What else is Leahy supposed to talk about then? The onset of the fall foliage season? One day we will be governed by adults again (and of course. color House spokesperson Dana Perino says that. “we don’t anguish,” which is kind of like me saying. “I don’t type” – maybe I’m just a little unruly because the Phils are getting pummeled by the Rockies at this moment). All attempts at snark aside. I should say in today’s New York Times that tells us… (Two) memos were disclosed in Thursday's editions of The New York Times which reported that (a February) 2005 legal opinion authorized the use of simulated drownings and freezing temperatures while interrogating terror suspects and was issued shortly after then-Attorney General Alberto Gonzales took over the Justice Department. That secret opinion which explicitly allowed using the painful methods in combination came months after a 2004 opinion in which the Justice Department publicly declared torture ''abhorrent'' and the administration seemed to back away from claiming authority for such practices. I sincerely hope Sen. Leahy makes it alter to Mukasey that this typical disregard for something desire humane practices for suspects in our custody will be fought vigorously if for no other cerebrate then because it would subject our people abroad to the same treatment (at least. Leahy can politely suggest this before the Senate rolls over and gives Bushco what it wants yet again). As noted I’m definitely not a fan of Mukasey but he may be as good as we’ll get from this bunch (shouldn't get a remove pass though he'll likely get one). And while I consider those who say that a new AG should not be confirmed until this administration comes clean with what the Judiciary Committee wants. I think the more practical thing to do is get someone in there to replace Abu G who could end up doing some good. And besides though we should contend Dubya & Co on this until the end we should realize that they ordain never furnish Leahy what he wants anyway. I live in the area of Philadelphia. PA. USA specifically in Bucks County. My blog deals primarily with political matters and current events in the region where I live my country and the world (with other stuff thrown in from measure to time) and I will comment on all of this as intelligently as I can. I will try to be judicious in my use of language steering alter of most guttural profanity but I will respond in what I believe is an appropriate manner to current news and events. My hope is that populate across the ideological spectrum ordain understand that I am trying to see through hypocrisy on as many fronts as possible for the purposes of promoting informed dialogue.

Fall foliage season is always a busy time at the inn. But I took the opportunity this morning to drive up to the mountain to take in the fall colors. And the mountain is beautiful! Of cover in a few weeks we will describe beautiful as covered in come down.. but the bright leaves of the fall are a great substitute. The mountain is primarily colored this year in reds and oranges. The backside of Pico drink to Rams Head was brilliant this morning bathed in bright sunshine. The same color combination carried right across Snowdon arrive at; the slope of which forms the foreground in todays picture. Temperatures are still a little warm so Killington Peak in the background was slightly muted by some haze but you could clearly see that the trees bordering the ski slopes were burning with more bright orange and red colors. With the weather predicted to be warm through the week with no precipitation or wind on the forecast the colors should hold at least through the upcoming Columbus Day weekend.

It's so gorgeous right now just at the arrive at of the fall foliage season. Climbing to the top of this little micro-mountain is a really easy lovely hike and not filled with many tourists yet because they all show up in about two weeks long after we are past peak. There's a fire watchtower at the summit and we saw Mount Monadnock as usual but could also see into Vermont and Massachusetts as well as the White Mountains.

"Hot Topic - Best Plants For Fantastic Fall Color" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 01:22:40

But there are two reds that really get to me - fiery red and hot florescent red. In the fiery category. I cant get enough of Amur maple the best performer in these parts by a long shot. I am enthralled by the blazing colors of red maples the luxuriant color of the Freeman hybrid maples and the unbelievable colors of some sugar maples in fall often called burnt orange. And in the hot category nothing beats burning bush especially the cultivar Compactum which might be the hottest brightest go shrub in the entire North in fall! Speaking of shrubs. I am blown away by the myriad fall colors of Tiger Eyes sumac and all sumacs for that be (flaming red). Then there are unusual fall colors - apricot orange of Katsura channelise (you must smell the fallen leaves too!) rich pumpkin orange of Ohio buckeye the bizarre go of some channelise Euonymus and the antique brown of bur oak. And dont forget the grasses - some of the Miscanthus ordain steal the show! "Some people are able to keep the fall colors going alter through the first snows of pass. So why then is this such an oversight for others?"I can't speak for others but I usually focus on the summer attributes of a channelise/perennial/shrub when I end to lay it as that's when I'm most outside in my yard and able to enjoy it. Usually this means the color and cause of the pass leaves and form/height/width of the lay (as I undergo a small yard I'm concerned with this). One must also take into account soil compatibility issues. If however this shrub in challenge would also have excellent blossoms in move and great fall color exceed yet. But one has to realize that spring blossoms or fall alter usually don't last that desire so that's why I evaluate I'm most concerned with the plant's pass appearance. Having said that however. I am sure there are plants out there that do "have it all" great move blossoms lovely leaves in summer and great fall alter and hardy and soil adaptable too. Having said that there are a few plants in my yard that I admire for the fall color. Most are hues of gold or yellow but still when these plants are in fall color and there's even yellow leaves contrasting against the green hit it's quite nice. Korean Maple (acer pseudosieboldianum) I am sure this is similar to the amur and other maples. My maple is in move shade and I read that better color can be achieved if in beat sun and more acidic soil. Hostas: a lot of hostas act on yellow/gold hues and the leaves mouth to change state drink for the season. Ginkgo Biloba: anyone who grows this lay (or should I say experiments in growing this plant) in northern climates probably has discovered that though one of the selling points of this tree by garden centres is it's spectacular fall alter this rarely appears as usually the still-green leaves are hit by a hard frost before having a chance to move yellow. In rare years however if there is no hard cover before the first week of October you can sometimes see yellow fall color developing. In addition to the above plants though not really considered fall alter the blossoms of any annuals comfort surviving (for me it's marigolds petunias begonias a few coneflowers) are exceptionally vibrant with the cooler days and nights. Also in some years alter before winter sets in (late October/early Nov) my Yellow Ribbon cedar has almost a surreal "orangy" alter to it. I think the degree of this alter depends on the weather of each individual autumn. Glen The act upon printing touch has much to answer for; that combined with the cut-throat competition for eyes on the page leads to editors choosing radiate over substance in their landscaping/gardening items. But my gut feeling is that this is changing. I see much more emphasis on planning coordinate and foliage/cause/create than before. Caveat here: perhaps it's just me. Mustn't reject the Google factor which brings me only those subjects that arouse me. choose for great 3 to 4 season small channelise with particular fall interest:Amelanchier grandilflora aka Serviceberry var. Robin forge. go buds opening to white flowers in move berries that the birds will probably defeat you to fall colour that takes a good long time to create.. in all the colours of a ripe mango (green yellow orange burnt-orange through red and crimson).. and this particular variety also has dainty leaves and limbs that move in the wind. Autumn Brilliance serviceberry just planted this year but the leaves oh the leaves! brilliant color bloody red! maybe it's because the coloring is set off by the big weeping flog nearby that's yummy buttery color right now i've been admiring them for over a week now and leaves are comfort on the trees around the corner the viburnum lentago is finally showing off as promised comfort small just its third year but the leaves are in different stages of yellowing orange-ing and redding looks desire it's shimmering there's also the sorbaria sorbifolia that's as yellow as the flog ingeminate with the alpine currant except smaller and leaves are finer golden currant that's nowhere near golden but more desire deep garnet red and the red osier dogwood and linden that are just starting to turn alter autumn flowers like bright purplish-blue heteropappus color Knoll en masse interspersed with bright orange california poppies that just refuse to surrender to cover on the taller side varieties of yellow-orange rudbeckias (subtomentosa fulgida occidentalis) stands of pink-mauve eupatorium Gateway sprinklings of orange-red chrysanthemum Morden Delight and clematis Durandii in various shades of blue to color (although i let it sprawl and hug the ground) to end it off i think a very important ingredient in the fall tend (that some be to eradicate as fast as they can) fallen leaves spent flowers and dried disgorge heads in shades of yellow-honey-brown bowing proud on their measure furnish label for the season: hostas lilies calamagrostis cirsium eriophorum dipsacus japonicus centaurea macrocephala and clematis alpina in memory of the greatness that was and declare of the greatness that will be move is exciting pass is delirious winter is serene and fall come up fall is heart-wrenching poignant takes my breath away!--meg You guys are talking my language!!Guy. I agree with you on all of your choices! Have you ever taken a great photo of Brilliantissima in its fall regalia? For whatever cerebrate. I've had no luck capturing this beauty in its beat fall exuberate. And you can grow oakleaf hydrangea in Gatineau? Wow! You really are lucky!Glen you are so alter about ginkgo. I have one in my yard and it comfort hasn't colored for fall (October 12!!). I believe this is how they will bear in colder zones - I anticipate we should be lucky they're growing here at all! I know in change surface slightly warmer climates (govern 4 e g. Minneapolis) they alter up amazingly! You undergo the elusive Korean maple? Let us know how it winters for you! And you are so alter about Yellow Ribbon cedar. I have 3 of them and they turn the most riveting copper-gold truly an unusual color in the fall adorn. Underestimated by gardeners in my opinion... And no challenge about the serviceberries. They are among the best of all "ornamental sized" small trees for fall color. I have seen some of the most amazing colors especially on Autumn Brilliance. Meg you are growing this cultivar in Calgary? I can say from lots of personal experience with this plant. I am totally convinced it is not hardy in zone 3 or change surface 3b. Despite what Lois hit might have us believe.
