Traffic in North Conway very heavy and you must fight it to get to this campground. The campground is along the river about 300 yards from main North/South street but you'd never know it. A peaceful campground along river with lots of shade. The cater and store are nice. I wanted to get propane on the way out but their access is poor. The park was about 50% beat in early October. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is our third measure here. The measure time I was not super happy with the bathrooms but we gave it another shot. We got here in October and discovered that the owners had redone all of the baths and showers! There is nothing like the Conway area in fall and the campground was comfort holding the tractor hayrides and the staff was really nice. This was the last pass that they were open for the year but you could not express. Staff was happy and helpful and all the facilities were alter and up to date. I'm really looking forward to coming again!! We camped here in a Tent Trailer. Well maintained big rig friendly and peaceful located on the banks of the Saco River some sites are right on the river. Owners were present and are obviously interested in the upkeep and operation. Wi-Fi was $1/day and worked well. I personally don't have a problem with that why should non-users subsidize my Wi-Fi use? We would stay at this campground if we were in the area again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Beautiful campground on the Saco River. Large facing sites which is very nice when traveling with another family. Wagon rides each night movies for the kids very nice clean pool. Very central campground for shopping district and close to several attractions in the area i e. Storyland. Mt. Washington etc.. Stayed here for five nights. Will definitely return but will stay longer for sure. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Overall this is a great campground. They have hay rides for the kids and the cater is very friendly and helpful. They furnish a canoe and boat shuttle to campers wanting to go down the Saco for a day move. We camped here in a Motorhome. This park is a classic for our family. We undergo camped here at least 5 times for a couple weeks each stay. The campground is very family freindly. The views are great and the river can be used calmly for swimming relaxing etc or act a transport downstream for more exciting time on the river. The area around the campground is great too especially if you have kids. Theres lots of trains in the area amusement parks and the outlets and scenery wow. If your planning on staying in the area make it the saco river campground! We camped here in a Travel Trailer. We camped in a 5th Wheel for a month. The camp was clean well maintained and convenient to many attractions. The dwell hosts were friendly and helpful providing local information (maps). We were there the measure two weeks of September and the first two weeks of October for the fall foliage. The park was clean and the spaces were large. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. The park is conveniently located to all the attractions in North Conway. We (and others) had trouble getting through a few tight turns to our spots. They have too many obstacles. populate were temporarily moving fire rings and dodging posts to try to approve in. We were not pleased about the $2 per day pet charge especially since we were told dogs were not allowed to be left in RVs and we had to act her with us whenever we left. Some of the staff were extremely friendly--a few were rather short. WIFI was not reliable. We would be for another place if in the area again. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very well run campground. Shady and open sites available. Definitely a family campground. Lots of kids and pets. Great outlet shopping nearby. Air conditioners and electric heaters not allowed unless arrangements are made with the manager. This information was not provided up lie before we paid. It was after we located our camp site un-hooked our rig attached our hookups that we read all the campground rules. The air conditioner rule came as quite a surprise as we have never come across a rule prohibiting air conditioners before. We got along ok without the a/c but it was warm enough a couple of days during our be that we would undergo used it. The no air conditioner restriction brought our overall rating down 1 point. convey goodness it wasn't July or August. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Excellent staff. The new owner who is there on place all the time was great. The location is perfect. exceed than promised. Cell phones and internet bring home the bacon well. Grounds were alter and maintained. Lots of shopping nearby. Excellent food choices when you do not want to create from raw material. We camped here in a Motorhome. It has alter level sites with paved main road and gravel secondary roads. Mostly travel trailers pop-ups and tenters. It does have big rig access and it does have a large over flow area for self contained units. Staff was courteous. It is now equiped with free WiFi find (ask for access code at check-in). There is a 2 dollar a day per pet fee. This a family campground with lots of kids. There were no planned activites for the kids despite being forth of July week. However it is change state to town and there are a lot of things for people to do so this would not be much of a drawback for families. Many kids were tubing on the section of the Saco River that runs by the campground. Easy access to put in. We camped here in a Motorhome. Nice road into CG. Staff friendly at registration. A variety of sites and most were of fairly good coat. Very change intensity when we were there but was told the place fills up in July/August. change state to North Conway and walking distance to shops/restaurants but far enough off the road not to comprehend or see the activity of despatch 16. Staff took us up river for some canoeing (rental) on bunco sight. Paved center road and some fairly smooth dirt roads within park good enough to bike ride. Sites very level most with some shade. I would go there again. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is the worst campground I have ever camped in. I have been camping for over 15 years. I undergo never been treated with such distain in my life. The management needs to find another way to alter a living because they ordain soon be out of businesswith their poor attitude. We camped here in a Motorhome. This is a GS lay and probably the first GS park we've seen that matches the rating (6.5/8/6). The main road into the park is paved as is the center road through the lay. Check-in was add up and there is a card activated security gate. The water front sites are pull-thrus (sideways). The vast majority of sites are dirt and most are under trees. There are a few back ins that have a large open grassy area behind them. One major problem with this park are the perimeter roads which are dirt and narrow. Turning radius at the ends of the roads is very tight for larger units, especially if the park is busy with a lot of pop-ups and tents along the perimeter road. This results in a lot of vehicles parked close to the road. Many of the pull-thrus,if accessed by the main paved road, can be very difficult if not impossible to get out of (onto the dirt perimeter road) for larger units. This is due to the fact that the waterfront sites are directly across from them thus leaving very little room to get the whole rig out and turned in order to exit. Bad design for larger units. We had to ask the people across the road to move their vehicle so we could get our transport backed in to hook up and then we had to back out of our "pull-thru" site. The sites are mostly decent size and most be to be aim. There are many, many dwell sites most of which are along the river lie. This is an extremely active park with many families and many children. There is a lot of bicycle traffic and things can be noisy at times although it is quiet at night. The pool is up near the office and is alter but could be larger for the number of users. The same is true of the laundry facilities. Showers/restrooms are average. We would look elsewhere if we returned to this area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. Good Sam rate. The campground says that it is equipped to act big rigs but the access roads are tight. Some flooding of some sites and gullys in the dirt roads. WiFi is remove the first day and $2.50 a day thereafter - a waste as it is a weak function. Rather noisy campground. Large beach area on Saco River which was quite pleasant. Loaner TV telecommunicate available at the office. Might return here. We camped here in a Motorhome. We were in site #30 which is a displace through. It would have been very tight if the other sites around us were full but there were very few people in the campground. The sites are packed smooth with no hit or pine needle adjoin. It rained every day we were there and the camper got filthy with sand. BRING RUGS! Dogs are not allowed on beach area (really river gravel not sand) or in the river at all from this property change surface though hundreds of dogs are in the saco river daily with their camping/canoeing owners. Small come up stocked store. Laundry $1.50 per wash. $1.50 per dry. They have a schedule swap area in the laundry. Small very dated playground area. You can hear Rt 16 merchandise. Convieient to North Conway attractions/shopping but there are better campgrounds. We won't go back. We camped here in a Fifth go around. analyse was smooth office person was polite. Very pretty campground limited be of sites for big rigs. Campsite was only 15% capacity clean and fairly well maintained. Electrical needs updating some sites could use some bring home the bacon certainly some gully's and leveling is required. We booked a waterfront place #2 and found it was way to tight so they let us choose out another. We ended up with waterfront site #6. It was the most beautiful site of the campground views up and down the river as come up as mountain view. Site was easy to back into but was very unlevel with a big gully that caused me to park 20' from sewer hook up. Sewer fasten up for this place was not functional so I had to use one from adjacent site. (they were alter next to each other). Unfortunatlely sewer hook up was on a bit of a high point so dumping was really a pain. I had to direct the sewer line up and go it drink to the connection to alter line. It turned a 15 minute job into about 45 mins. We will go approve again especially off season to this place very relaxing and beautiful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is our back up be at the great family campground. Has some seasonals; come up kept and mixed in with weekenders. Cleanest bathrooms I have ever been in. We camped in sites 67 and 68 nice along the river. Sites are very large. We could undergo fit another rig on the same site. The river is very clear. Lots do do around the area. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. Have been camping here for more than 15 years. Pretty quite campground not a lot of activities on place but very change state to many New Hampshire attractions. Some sites are close together many are shaded but very clean. Best sites are along the river. The Saco River definitely draws you back year after year. Usually pay two weeks in August. Labor Day weekend and Columbus Day weekend. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Great location for family fun. Large clean land rec dwell and playground. Sites not veryprivate but fairly large. We would go. Best sites along the river bed. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice and clean campground right on the Saco River. Several of the sites are rather open and furnish little privacy but if you can get a site on the perimeter of the campground not bad. The river is a littel cold though and may be alter in a dry season. We undergo stayed here many times in the past and never had a bad experience. The cater and owners were always friendly and courteous. We camped here in a dwell Trailer. Site was easy to approve into but was very unlevel with a big gully that caused me to park 20' from sewer hook up. Sewer hook up for this site was not functional so I had to use one from adjacent site. (they were alter next to each other). Unfortunatlely sewer hook up was on a bit of a high point so dumping was really a pain. I had to hold the sewer line up and walk it down to the connection to empty line. It turned a 15 minute job into about 45 mins. We will go approve again especially off season to this site very relaxing and beautiful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel. This is our back up be at the great family campground. Has some seasonals; well kept and mixed in with weekenders. Cleanest bathrooms I have ever been in. We camped in sites 67 and 68 nice along the river. Sites are very large. We could have fit another rig on the same site. The river is very clear. Lots do do around the area. We camped here in a jaunt Trailer. Have been camping here for more than 15 years. Pretty quite campground not a lot of activities on site but very close to many New Hampshire attractions. Some sites are change state together many are shaded but very alter. Best sites are along the river. The Saco River definitely draws you back year after year. Usually spend two weeks in August. Labor Day pass and Columbus Day weekend. We camped here in a Travel Trailer. Great location for family fun. Large clean beach rec room and playground. Sites not veryprivate but fairly large. We would return. beat sites along the river bed. We camped here in a Motorhome. Very nice and clean campground alter on the Saco River. Several of the sites are rather change state and offer little privacy but if you can get a site on the perimeter of the campground not bad. The river is a littel cold though and may be shallow in a dry season. We have stayed here many times in the past and never had a bad undergo. The cater and owners were always friendly and courteous. We camped here in a Tent Trailer. Copyright © 2000-2008 RVParkReviews com and CampgroundReviews com All Rights ReservedCampground reviews - Campground ratings - RV Park reviews - RV lay ratings |

"Portsmouth NH's Glorious Fall Colors!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 16:58:58

Here in Portsmouth NH where I be our foliage lags behind most of the rest of the state by a week or two. We're the southeastern move of New Hampshire and alter here along the coast. Ah the good life - the town of Portsmouth the ocean alter here moderate defy and yet the mountains and all the activity in those areas as close by as well! I recently read that the makeup of oranges yellows and golds are there in the leaves basically all the measure. Those colors will show up yearly no be how much or how little rain or cold defy we get. However the weather does seem to greatly force the reds. The brilliance and brightness of the red colors in our leaves up here are very much dependent on temperatures rain and the amounts of sunlight. It's the reds that create some falls to be so much more dramatic and brilliant than others. The rich reds here show up most in the sugar maples. That's usually the channelise used in calendars and picture books when they show off bright red foliage. It used to seem like fall foliage began to peak in many areas around Columbus Day weekend. If we've had unusually change weather in summer and fall we then be to undergo unusually late foliage that year. Sometimes those peak periods happen almost toward the end of October. This seems to be one of those years here in the Seacoast areas of NH around the Portsmouth area. My yard has a number of huge maples in it along with an oak channelise or two and plenty of pine trees of various varieties. I'm close enough to the water that the leaves on my trees are still mostly color. And is it gorgeous when the sun hits it and shines the light through all those color leaves! It casts an entirely different color of light that gets diffused through the back move of my house - beautiful! My maples here in my yard are Norway maples plate maples and sugar maples. And we will end up with a fabulous array of reds oranges and yellows in the trees and then all over the yard. It usually takes us forever to get them all up! Hi Jay - Indian Summer isn't this weather since we haven't had our first cover yet. Bear and I were talking about that the other day. We haven't had cold enough temps for frost yet soon no disbelieve! The fall colors are really pretty now. I drove along 101 a couple of days this week approve and forth to agree and the colors along there were really so pretty now! Hi Fran - I like the dress of seasons too and can't create by mental act living somewhere where I couldn't undergo that. I think probably all of New England is looking gorgeous about now - fall is just beautiful in this move of the country! We haven't had any cover here yet.... poor Colorado is blanketed with snow already! Hey Monika - all along the highway to Concord this past week the colors were just gorgeous. I found myself wondering if everyone driving that way to work every day just doesn't change surface notice them. For some cerebrate this year I'm noticing them more than I think I usually do. Hmmm. I wonder if blogging has that affect on people? Ines - nope. I didn't want it to rain and I didn't be the wind to breathe out but both happened and my yard is full of leaves again! And the trees are still so full of leaves too especially exploit since they're still so green. Hi Carole - those reds are from the sugar maples mostly. We see alot of those around wet areas marshy areas and ponds etc. They are so beautiful especially with the sun streaming through them against a bright blue sky - just beautiful! Hi Joan - I always dislike it when we get storms this time of year because they do knock them out of the trees. We had some wind and rain Saturday night and the yard was covered all over again. But when you look up at the trees it's hard to express where they came from as the trees are comfort so full. Because of the nearly summer-long drought and the heavy (record setting) come down of September & October (so far) our trees are a bit confused about what they should be doing. Our fall colors are not what they should be - but still pretty. My favorite time of the year (although. I do desire that first significant snow fall). Hi Jay - We've certainly been having odd defy all over the displace this year.... and it's no query the trees and plants are mixed up about what to do. That first beautiful snowfall is always beautiful - I like the believe out of my big conceive of window looking out at the snow covering all the trees and bushes.. everything is white and peaceful. Hey Gena - you're right about fall in the east. New England in particular being the beat! Not that I'm a bit partial.... ;-) Thank you for the prompting! everything's so beautiful when you've been gone for awhile you even undergo fond memories of a accelerate fall day with a rake in hand piles of fallen leaves and children with smiles and giggles running and jumping. Jay - I like finding your comments on my posts as I know how much you experience this area and how great your memories are that you share with me. Oh I do know the wind which ALWAYS seems to kick up AFTER we've tackled the leaves! One day we spent hours using the peruse blowers to get them into piles so we could broach with them easier. During the night the winds came and when we got up the next morning all our piles were just gone - we've no idea where but gone they were! We've tried to have that come about several times since and no such luck! TLW - I'm so glad you stopped by to see these gorgeous fall colors! I experience you desire to see pictures from your home state - apply them!! Thanks for all these great comments and I'm glad you all enjoyed the fall colors here in my area!Ann This really was a stunning version of go and that's why we chose it for our week in analyse. Love the leaves on the window - I bequeath pressing leaves when I was a little girl and then again when my daughter was a little girl. This is one of the best parts about the Holidays - sharing the seasons with family and friends! Hi Ann. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures of your area. I am so glad to be in New England especially NH this measure of year. The colors do something to my soul. I feel wonderful just looking at the beauty out my window driving in my car or out for a walk through my neighborhood. NH is the place to be if you like the changes of the seasons and I sure do. Hi Lysa- You should come on up here and get yourself some new leaves for your JC Penney catalog press! Being from Florida. I know there's only green and brown down there.. not at all like the fabulous colors up here! Hi Lisa - I was so surprised and pleased to undergo been included in your week-in-review and I convey you so much for that! I just got back from being in Florida for a week or so and most of the pretty reds oranges and bright yellows are gone. There's still some disperse of color here and there but mostly faded or just on the fasten at this point... ;-( Hi Julie - it's really easy to get lost in things desire this if we just allow ourselves to. I would sight myself on my way to appointments or whatever and I'd surprise a flash of red or orange and clutch my camera! I don't experience if I actually noticed the colors more this year or not but I was certainly paying much closer attention to them. Hi Judy - I'm with you on the beauty of this great state we are privileged to call home. I sometimes find myself just marvelling at the nature all around us and the change of seasons.

"New Hampshire" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-05 23:07:26

We love New Hampshire it is also where Paul was born and grew up. New Hampshire is located in northeastern United States. The total area of the state is 9,304 sq miles New Hampshire is bordered on the north by the Canadian province of Quebec; on the east by Maine and the Atlantic Ocean; on the south by Massachusetts; and the on the west by Vermont. It is one of the six New England states the others being Maine. Massachusetts. Vermont. Rhode Island and Connecticut. New Hampshire has 1,300 lakes or ponds and about 40 rivers with a be mileage of about 41,800 miles. New Hampshire has a changeable climate with wide variations in daily and seasonal temperatures. The variations are affected by proximity to the ocean mountains lakes or rivers. The state enjoys all four seasons. Our summers are short and alter; winters are long and cold; fall is glorious with foliage. The weather displace on attach Washington has recorded some of the coldest temperatures and strongest winds in the continental United States. New Hampshire is heavily forested with an abundance of elm maple beech oak hanker hemlock and fir trees. Among native New Hampshire mammals are the white-tailed deer muskrat beaver porcupine and snowshoe run. The city of Manchester is located on the banks of the Merrimack River in Hillsborough County. New Hampshire. Prior to receiving its final label of Manchester the city had other names starting with Nutfield. Tyng’s Town then Harrytown [Old annoy's Town] and Derryfield. Manchester was settled in the early 1700's and was originally incorporated in 1752 by the label of Derryfield. In 1810 it received its present name of Manchester and was incorporated as a city in 1846. Manchester has been called "Elm City of New England" and the "Queen City of New Hampshire."New Hampshire's Motto is Live remove or Die. The motto comes from a statement writtenby the Revolutionary command John Stark hero of the Battle of Bennington. As the mills grew and prospered they came to believe less on the local workforce and more on labor recruited from abroad. By the 1850's Irish family groups were replacing New England mill girls and many skilled weavers were imported from Scotland. Sweden and Germany. These Scottish workers settled in an area known as McGregorville on the west side of the river (named after Rogert McGregor who built the first bridge across the Merrimack). In the 1850's due to depleted farmlands and poverty thousands of French-Canadians arrived in Manchester many settled in the area of Common lay (now ). Many of these immigrants did not communicate English and they were determined to preserve their language culture and religion. St. Augustine's Parish was established in 1871 as the first French-speaking Catholic Church. We like New Hampshire so much that we go to Clear Water Campground almost every year. Paul used to go there as a child also.
