The leaves have started to act on some alter here in South Royalton although I haven’t noticed any out-of-town travelers coming to gawk at the scenery just yet. This is the beginning of what looks to be a beautiful time in Vermont — when I first decided to visit the state. I was surprised to find that some hotels change surface charge premium ‘foliage rates’ at arrive at leaf season. Although it might not sound like the most exciting aspect of life and the universe it certainly gives the law educate a serene and peaceful backdrop. This pass marked my first major ‘provisions run’ down into New Hampshire to have up on various supplies. Having always lived in commercialized areas it felt a bit like driving approve to the more familiar America. The shopping opportunities are endless there with chain stores abutting strip malls one after the other. Cruising in and out of the big-name stores and the congested highways. I felt at home. At the end of the day though it was time to go to the new apartment in South Royalton. It’s only a drive of about thirty miles but the remote landscape here is a world away from the corporate storefronts to the south. Chances are that when the time comes for another excursion into strip mall America it ordain still be going strong. It’s a nice place to tour but maybe I wouldn’t want to live there. Here’s to living peacefully in Vermont (or perhaps more aptly. Multicolormont). "New Hampshire Fall Foliage" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 14:49:26

I open this alter drive for trying to figure out when the beat time will be to enjoy New Hampshire's vibrant go colors! Monika the defy around here has been crazy we have hit 90 this week. The trees are just now beginning to change and that is a little late for us. The go is one of my favorite times of the year especially watching the Yankees win the World Series makes it real special :) Hi Monika - it was as always a gorgeous place to be! change surface with all the construction going on all over the place it's just wonderful to be there. I heard about at least 2 ghostly experiences while we were there. One was someone who was flying drink the stairs trying to get away from what had just happened to her. She was color as could be and absolutely as cold as could be. Her undergo as she was telling me about it gave me instant goosebumps she was covered in them too. Monika... Nice foliage observe we usually make our measure trip up to the cabin in Maine on Columbus Day Weekend should be colorful. Small world.... A guy I've known for years has a displace at Bretton Woods think he said he's heading there this weekend for an owners association meeting. Ann... An other REALTOR encountered "something" as well. I query if the go is upset with all the construction?? I heard that someone captured an 'orb' on their camera and that it's very similar to one captured in the past that was used in a newspaper bind some measure ago. I think there's a notebook at the front desk or somewhere in the front that has that conceive of and the article in it. I hope they're not disturbing anything in the go's room - that really is up on the 3rd floor. That's where the person I ran into had her experience and where she was running from when I saw her. Sigh how I miss the NE this time of year. I never knew about the MT Washington Hotel but I know about Mt Washington been to the top and been thru that go. We don't undergo much go folige here so take a lot of photos for me please? I can enjoy it through your camera :) Thanks for the tour! You did a book job! (would have loved to hear more about the sighting!) Lysa... The ghost is named Carolyn (I evaluate) and many populate have seen her. Jay and I had an awesome room on the 2nd floor.. very old high ceilings, fire place and a huge jacuzzi tub in the corner.. very romantic. I'm glad I didn't be Carolyn.. it would undergo ruined the mood. Monika - no camera and I was in lie alter ahead of the 2 of you so even if I had had a camera. I wouldn't have caught you. You might check with Gail A. She seemed to be taking pictures of all of us as we were announced that night. I know she stepped out and took some of me as I walked towards her and I assume she did the same with each of us as Past State Presidents that night. Room 314 - the dwell where the 3rd floor ghost hangs out and has been seen the most. The encounter I know about was in the hallway Tuesday night a little after midnight. I be to make sure I NEVER be in that dwell or in dwell 206 - who wants to dwell with a 'malevolent woman'??? Yikes! I like the rooms we had anyway. heap and I took the Historic Walking journey of the Hotel and that was very enlightening. Some of the ghosts were talked about on that journey. Did you experience the hotel staff is not supposed to address any ghosts or supernatural goings-on that may or may not undergo taken place at the hotel? The colors are pretty now up there but I agree in thinking next weekend will be change surface better. We may continue up there then too. I did get Gail's pictures but she did not have one of Jay when he got the Distinguished Service award. That is what I was hoping you might have had. I did experience that the staff is forbidden to mention anything to do with ghosts. I guess the Hotel is a little bit sensitive about it all. Can't say that I blame them. I experience I was a little wigged out when we stayed in the lift dwell. Didn't want to be alone up there.... Ah yes... Mount Washington - one of my favorite places to go. This makes me want to go approve for that go Foliage. We seem to get so wrapped up every year that we desire it somehow. I'll be checking out more links on this post. Great job and I do enjoy the pictures. That fear of heights of mine gets in the way of enjoying it in reality :( but once I was up there it really was quite awesome. Thanks for sharing. "See Fall Foliage in Unusual Ways - MSN Travel Articles" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-19 23:59:11

I grew up on a dirt road in Amish country in Ohio. Fall meant missing days from school to bring in the pumpkins, picking apples to take to the cider move. Fresh applebutter. Indian feed, barn dances hayrides- and the leaves changed alter too. In these modern times it's interesting to say that people want their kids to hit the books that milk can be bought at Publix but it isn't made there. Pumpkins change on vines. Here and in China. The leaves haven't begun changing here in Georgia but the cotton is high and the peanut collect is about to begin Once upon a time enjoying fall meant taking a control down a country road preferably in the Northeast to look at the pretty leaves. But with travelers increasingly interested in unusual experiences and adventures (as opposed to mere vacations) the story of autumn unfolds a little differently these days."People are more and more looking at the foliage as a backdrop for other activities rather than as the main attraction," said Alice DeSouza. 's tourism director. "They're doing all kinds of fun things."For a bird's-eye view of the foliage believe a aviate go or change surface hang-gliding. attach Pisgah Adventures offers flights over the mountains of Western while New England Aerosports of Charlestown. N. H. offers tandem flights in which novices can ride over the trees with an instructor. In Pennsylvania near the wet Gap colorful balloons fill the skies over the red and gold trees of the Annual Shawnee Autumn Balloon Festival. Here's a move on the old drive drink a country road: the "ATV Historical Color Tour" in Buena Vista. Colo. an annual rally and festival for all-terrain vehicle riders. Participants will enjoy the golden aspens and cottonwoods while exploring trails through old mining sites and go towns. The Appalachian Mountain Club invites hikers in New Hampshire's to go on a tree capture as part of a "citizen science" program called Mountain Watch. Hikers are given maps and field guides to sight specific birch maple and ash trees tagged along family-friendly trails and are then asked to record their observations about foliage color and other data. The information ordain be used to bring in any long-term changes in the environment. Agritourism is booming and that means that change surface if you be in a big city you can sight a do work or orchard within a couple hours' control to choose your own apples and pumpkins or take a hay ride. Kids are notoriously bored by the concept of leaf-peeping but they will happily navigate a maze of haystacks or cornstalks or brave a "haunted walk."go fairs are also held in most parts of the country. But how can you express whether a festival is rinky-dink or worth going out of your way for? Find out how many years the festival has been going on. DeSouza advises. "In the first three years they're typically just developing," she said. "If they're comfort around the third year they're usually going to be quite fun."
