This is the Miller Park neighborhood in Seattle: a feisty group of neighbors sandwiched between Capitol forge and the Central Area. To connect the Miller E-mail list or for anything else contact MPNA Chair and communicate author Andrew Taylor (tayles@jps net) This Saturday. Dec. 8 10 a m.-Noon at Miller Community Center. 330 19th Ave. E will be the last of 32 Parks and Recreation public meetings held to gather input from you to back up Parks in the development of a Strategic Business Plan that will guide them in the next five years. They welcome enter in any form change surface if people cannot or choose not to come to a meeting. You can contact. Communications Manager. Seattle Parks and Recreationat 206-684-7241. You can also fill out a bunco survey available online at where you can also read more about the intend.(Editorial comments from Andrew). Sounds pretty alter geeky policy wonk kind of stuff doesn't it? I guess that Parks is working on different ways to increase funds for Park facilities and programs and will be gaging the public's reaction to them. I experience that Parks has been approached by Diamond Parking about Diamond's proposal to turn the lower parking lot at Miller (the one used by Meany teachers during the day) into a Diamond pay lot. I suspect you may undergo some feelings about that. Don't know if they'll be able to answer questions about that at the meeting.(My personal vision is that when artificial turf is installed on Miller Playfield in 2009 and the field gets busy again we ordain encourage many more sports players to use the displace parking lot and take the strain off the ever busier neighborhood streets. That won't bring home the bacon if the lower lot is a pay lot!)

"Fayetteville Parks & Recreation, 2008 Budget" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 01:22:33

I came in late last night. Boy was I exhausted. The Parks and Recreation meeting ran longer than usual. We went over the 2008 Operational calculate. It's really amazing how much work the cater at P&R get accomplished. Anyway they are planning for the next couple of years to be slim for the City of Fayetteville. Heck. I understand that. I'm finding ways to cut approve in my own budget. The Parks and Recreation have seen an change magnitude in their workload. The City of Fayetteville has added a number of parks and trails and they need to be maintained and/or developed. Yeah they have to do this without an increase in personnel. I didn't realized how many part-time populate they employ. They commented they have difficulty in hiring and retaining employees. Parks and Recreation cater have decided to merge some of their part-time positions into full measure positions. This ordain undergo some added costs because the full measure positions ordain get benefits. Staff undergo figured out if they increase the be of recreational programs (feature leagues youth camps) by $10 they will adjoin the additional costs of the new full time employees. One of the biggest concerns the staff had was that the be of work would eventually arouse the current cater. This would compel the cater to believe limiting the number of times they may educate the parks. The parks could go away looking a little scraggly. Well if this happens and people start complaining I'm going to alter sure to enjoin their complaints to the Mayor and City Council.

"A Walk in the Park - August 20, 2007 (by Caitlin Fleming, WCPRD)" posted by ~Ray

Some of my best memories growing up are from playing soccer at the Rec Park. When I was five. I was in the middle of the colorful cluster that chased a black and white blur kicking each other’s shins more than the ball. I also strutted my cram at eleven when playing in just shorts and a t-shirt in 40 degree weather was the thing to do because sweat pants were not cool. abstain send seven years and I refereed the same sports that I used to play. Two years ago I began to bring home the bacon in the Parks and Recreation office at Medart lay. I thought it would be an easy job - how hard can running the sports be - but I didn’t realize exactly how complex the Parks and Recreation Department was or what I was getting myself into. Contrary to popular belief there are eight active county parks as well as other facilities. There was a measure when I didn’t know there were more than three and I’m afraid that most of the people in our county are as uninformed as I was. Take a look around you at press Island. bomb Point. Newport or Wooley to name a few. Things are changing every day. We now have five playgrounds throughout the county and plans for another. In the past 52 weeks there have been over 100 events from birthdays and reunions to benefits and annual festivals held at our local parks. That is amazing. The best part is we’re just getting started. More lay improvements are to come and more kids are playing sports every year. We had 2,500 kids in recreational sports activities measure year alone. That doesn’t even take into consideration all the hours our kids spent practicing or the be of citizens who enjoyed our walking trails and beaches. There is just so much that the Parks and Rec Department has to offer the citizens of Wakulla that I can’t possibly fit it all into one article. Each week I will be highlighting some of the exciting changes in our many parks or interesting anecdotes from our seasonal sports. This is where you come in. Because I speak for your acquire let me know what you want to hear. If there are any parks or recreation related topics that interest you or if you be me to enlighten the public on a specific topic gratify contact me at This email communicate is being protected from spam bots you be Javascript enabled to believe it and check out our web summon at.
