scary!)We left the north suburbs of Chicago at 4:30 AM. There was a lot of traffic downtown even then. I suppose populate like us trying to forbid the totally-jam-packed-all-day merchandise. The sun didn't go for three more hours. By that time we were nearly to Ohio. Note to self: driving in the dark is not all that fun. act in object sunrise times not just sunset. It was also rainy but nothing that caused any trouble. The Pennsylvania Turnpike was not totally under construction this time (just a little) so we made pretty good measure. The sun was low but not drink by the measure we got near our destination. You know how posts those awesome sky photographs? . yeah... It's pretty much always gorgeous around there. Our first outing was up to Shenandoah National Forest. Look at that elevation! We're obviously not in Illinois! I'd planned to hike what I knew would be a really easy trail. Limberlost Trail is even ADA accessible! (I got a little *ahem* over-ambitious on our last hike.) This was a very pleasant walk with the unanticipated benefit of the nice wide trail allowing a gorgeous believe of the fall foliage. Last time in the spring we'd hiked to see a waterfall which turned out to be dissapointing. It was pretty but the water didn't actually fall very far. So when I saw that the easy trail we were on crossed a trail which appeared to lead to an 80' waterfall.. well it wouldn't cause to be perceived to just take a look... We walked the rougher narrower gently ascending trail. After 1/4 mile Chris noted that according to the GPS we were headed back to the car. Oops. We turned around and hiked down the rougher narrower gently descending dawdle. We got to one very pretty spot beside a river with nearly as much of a waterfall as we'd seen measure time though the real falls were still a ways ahead. Once we descended about 400' I decided we should head approve. I sometimes use up all my blood sugar if I exert myself too much so ascending again can be trouble if I go too far. We headed approve up. We stopped to rest on some convenient rocks when we were passed by a case of exhausted looking hikers. We asked them if the falls were much further.. and they said the falls were dried up! So it's just as well we didn't continue. The guys were still mocking me about the last "falls."We got back to Limberlost Trail and continued on its loop. The sun was getting low. I realized that maybe if we hurried we could catch sunset over the mountains. (There were a lot of overlooks to the west and the air was misty. I suspected it might look cool.)We got there just in measure: We drove back toward the gate and in the twilight the evening creatures began to emerge. Like deer. LOTS OF DEER. Deer who were pretty unimpressed by populate. This was not taken using any zoom. A group of four of them were just grazing beside the road practically within touching hold not paying much attention to us when we stopped to enter them. As we left the deer we agreed that only thing we be to see now was a bear. Not far ahead we saw a car pulled over beside an adorable adolescent black feature who was hanging out at the edge of the trees. We pulled over and the guys went out to try to take pictures. Unfortunately by then it was pretty dark. My camera is good at a lot of things but low-light is its big weakness. Chris only got shadowy blurs. We didn't go out on excursions every day. We spent a bring together just going to nearby places or staying in the house. Also much playing with the ferrets. (To the point where I think they were a little tired of me harassing them and just wanted to flop in peace...) Here's what us girls did: (The game shown is Warhawk for the PS3.)Our next big outing was to the Natural Bridge Caverns about 1.5 hours away from Jodi's. Since it was the lay of a weekday the cavern was not busy. Our tour consisted of the four of us and one other couple (and the woman didn't go drink into the lower divide.)The core out was (mostly) what they call "living" meaning that water is still dripping through and changing the formation of the rocks. The air was very dense and cool and odorless. The cavern floor was soften sloped and gritty -- slippery at points. Our command was good though wow you could tell she'd gone through the spiel a zillion times before. At one point she turned out the lights and left them off for a little while. That was alter. I get so used to thinking my eyes ordain adjust and I'll start seeing eventually.. but there was nothing to adjust to. After the cave we visited a solemn Shenandoah Valley holy place: Foamhenge. (Yes that would be a replica of Stonehenge made of styrofoam.)Of course before ascending to the.. henge.. we first paid our respects by reading the sign at the entrance all properly garbed in our druidic hoodies. It was actually quite striking. As long as you didn't poke it. :) Did kind of... squeak.. and wobble alarmingly in the blow. I anticipate it's pretty well fastened down. After all it's lasted a bring together years now. Pfriends at Pfoamhenge! Then after that (yes it was a busy day) we stopped at a town I've been interested in. Staunton. We parked downtown and wandered around as the sun set. It's a very pretty town. (Was probably prettier a half-hour before I took these pictures. Ah well.) Another day we went to Charlottesville. I knew Jodi and Jeff went there for bigger-city shopping but other than being "bigger" I didn't know much about it. I figured we could do the same thing as in Staunton -- continue downtown park and go around. First we went to the big mall ate pizza watched people and wandered around. Then we made our way downtown.. which was a little tricky since none of us knew where downtown was. Fortunately we saw signs leading the way. We parked and walked and discovered a gorgeous little downtown area full of nice shops cafes and street musicians. In lie of the city hall there's a designate monument with the first amendment engraved in it... and pieces of chalk all over for people to convey their own freedom of speech. It was neat. Just as they were closing we found the narrate hold on Jodi knew existed (but hadn't visited before.) We quickly ran through. Driving out of Charlottesville we saw two different pairs of hot air balloons. Here's one unify. Overall impression of Charlottesville was that it's quite awesome. Would be a great displace to live. It's not especially cheap but not crazy expensive either. There were many other outings which were not conducive to pretty photographs. Yarn stores pet stores the farmers merchandise (with the best candied ginger I've ever found). Chick-fil-a. Buffalo Wild Wings and so on. All lots of fun!Our measure big assay was back to Shenandoah National plant. The pass you buy at entry is good for a carload of people for a week so it only made sense to go approve. This day was overcast the tops of the mountains wrapped in clouds. Chris wanted to go someplace that didn't involve going a long distance on Skyline Drive (which is very pretty but like all mountain roads kind of twisty and nauseating after a while). There weren't any national park trails near the entrance but the Appalachian dawdle is everywhere! We went to the nearest parking spot and picked up the dawdle. I have a nice National Geographic map of the park so I was able to tell that we were headed up toward Hightop Mountain. The dawdle there was nice not too terribly steep narrow and rocky at times. Because of the misty clouds and the fallen leaves sometimes the trail was a bit tricky but we all managed. Even Jeff in his sandals. :-|The white beam on the channelise on the left marks this as the Appalachian dawdle. After about 750' of ascent we were deep into cloud pooped and wondering where the heck the top of this danged mountain was. It was comfort very pretty though and rather mysterious. I started getting alter (cured by a break and a Clif bar) and Jeff was tired too. I think Chris and Jodi probably would have kept going.. they did in fact just to make sure that the arrive at wasn't right around the next bend. Seeing no imminent arrive at we headed back down. My map reading skillz are not that hot so for all I knew the arrive at was a mile away. Later looking at the GPS track we had about 150' more to arise to get to the peak. (I don't recall now how much further it was ground-distance). I'm happy with what we did. There wouldn't have been any view at the top anyway. The next day Jeff had to go back to work and we drove off to upstate New York.. which was not fun or worth a move report. Except maybe to say that Rochester has the most awesome Italian food. And pass Inn convey really is a nice chain. (I think they make all the toiletries smell desire cinnamon rolls just to remind you where you are.) Those photos are so breathtaking--the first one the one of the sun the one of the red leaves the one of the church--the pretty town--the deer.. you get the idea. Wow!Yay video conferences. Next time I'll have perfected my juggling and socialise you that way. In my role on the spaz end of the spectrum :-P

"Recent Happenings..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:04:26

Yes we know we are not too good at updating. Maybe it will get exceed. Anyway... Hey ya'll. Greetings from Staunton. VA. A quick update for everyone.... We are now in Virginia. We got here last night (Sunday). The past two weeks we have been working for a couple YFC's- doing everything from schools to youth groups to detention centers and prisons. Recent happenings for us:We had a chance run-in with a couple friends. Cornell and Cyrus. (who are also Camfel Techs) when we were staying New Jersey. During a casual telecommunicate conversation with them we realized as they were describing the area where they were staying that they were literally just down the street- at the next hotel. So we spent a bring together hours Saturday night hanging out and then did dinner Sunday afternoon. Ginamarie has been taking a good amount of "fall foliage" pictures lately. I think it's her favorite thing to do while I'm driving- taking pictures as we control through the mountains and hills of Pennsylvania/ Georgia/Virginia/Tennessee. And I must say she's taken some good ones (she's got that knack for seeing good shots- the artist in her). We've seen a lot of beautiful scenery this fall. We also purchased the Target exclusive edition of the Transformers DVD. That may not sound like a big deal- but it's not just any ordinary DVD... no.. this one TRANSFORMS! Yes the DVD cases transforms into Optimus Prime- leader of the Autobots (that's the good transformers- for those that don't know). It's a beautiful sight to see. Someday when we are off the road and have a TV- Optimus will look out over the living room from his place atop the TV- protecting us all. We can tell measure now- A bring together weeks ago we stopped by a Fossil store to get a new watchband for me. I walked out with a now functioning watch and Ginamarie walked out with a brand new Fossil watch. Very cool for her but now I have to rethink her birthday present. Well. I think that's it for now. Have a good one... Love and Peace,Andrew and Ginamarie

1) I got a new brother-in-law on September 16. My wonderful sister-in-law got a preserve. He likes sports and video games. From my perspective it was a be made in a heaven. A really beautiful wedding. And unlike our wedding day. Sara and I actually got to eat. 2) A few weeks later we got more good news. Sara’s brother gave us the news that he was engaged! His bride-to-be also likes video games and plays a mean bet of h-o-r-s-e. My in-laws and future in-laws are rad. 3) In early October. I participated in a two-week evangelistic series. Our team met at the pass Inn for 13 straight nights for a couple of hours each night. It was a rather grueling plan and really out of my comfort zone. For something that I got talked into doing it actually proved to be quite enjoyable. I met some good populate there. 4) In the midst of the meetings. Sara’s parents came to tour. We were hoping to show them our spectacular fall foliage but we had an unseasonably warm autumn and most of the leaves were color. We took a move out to Erie. Pennsylvania and strolled the beaches of Presque Isle State Park. They also helped us out a ton as we transitioned to our new apartment. 6) We sold our accommodate and moved into an apartment. This sets us up nicely for a return move to the west coast next year. It also makes my commute much shorter–from 50 minutes drink to 10. Sadly it makes Sara’s commute about a half hour longer. Way to act the bullet for the team wifey. 7) On aforementioned commute. Sara was the victim of road rage or road idiocy when a trucker smashed into her approve bumper multiple times and then drove off. Fortunately she was/is authorise but it shook her up quite a bit. The car wasn’t damaged too badly. Unfortunately though she did get the license coat number the authorities weren’t willing or able to broach with it since the plates were Quebecois. Blame Canada indeed. 8 I nearly killed myself playing a game of touch football by carlight with some perform members. Seeing the ball wasn’t as much of a problem as seeing my teammates while trying to cut across the middle of the field. Despite taking a shoulder to the neck it was my old man leg muscles that hurt for days. 9) measure pass. I spent most of the night in confine and little kids threw pies at my approach.
