"Rec center changes reflect input" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 15:12:04

Since the May blackball of a proposed recreation center by 94 votes (884 against to 790 for) the city has asked residents for feedback on what the city should do about recreation in Loveland. This was the first choose the city has held on a recreation center and the choose was extremely close. The process that the city followed to place this issue on the vote in May followed two years of careful citizen-driven planning. The choose in May was very change state and a close vote warranted a change state examination of what residents were saying with the outcome. Three general views have been expressed by residents since May. First a number of residents stated that they voted against the recreation center plan as it existed in May but would undergo voted for it had some aspects of the intend been different. Many offered suggestions such as expand and increase the outdoor share alter the proposed income tax end when the recreation center is paid for or make the facility less expensive to use for Loveland residents. back up many residents said that the city should rewrite the intend and place the air back before the voters again as soon as possible. Some long-time residents said that they have raised their kids in Loveland while this community talked year after year about a pool. They be a pool for their grandkids they said so forbid talking and go away building. Finally some residents told the city that they conclude the voters spoke in May and that the city should stop plans for a recreation center. Council heard all these comments. We listened. We considered letting the recreation center issue die. We considered changes to the plan. In the end council decided that enough changes could be made to the plan to conform to those who wanted the facility and those who said they could have supported it with changes. In a few short weeks the revised air will be before Loveland voters again. To those residents who oppose the plan you undergo the right to choose against it again. To those residents who be a recreation center you can cast your vote for it again. To those of you who said you be a recreation center you undergo the greatest challenge in the coming weeks. Your task is to evaluate how come up the city did in listening to your constructive criticisms. Did the plan change enough to earn your support? I have said before that the council will not keep placing this issue approve before voters until it passes (Cincinnati Enquirer. Aug. 14). What council has done is ask all residents what we should do and the decision to place an improved intend on the ballot for all our consideration reflects what the majority of residents undergo told us they want.
